I did it!
Despite the odds being stacked against me, feeling woefully underprepared due to limited skate trainings over the last 6 months, and still processing the loss of my dearest friend less than 3 weeks ago.
I did it.
At the beginning of the week I was in tears ready to pull out.
I had lengthy discussions with friends about whether I should or shouldn’t go. Some saying take the pressure off and pull out, others saying no go for it, even my kind Uber driver said I should do it to relieve the stress in my life.
A pep talk with Macarena❣️ROLLER SKATER put things into perspective. I told her either way I would feel crap, crap if I pulled out, crap if I did a lousy skate. She said maybe you should take the pressure off yourself and just skate anyway and not worry about how you do.
Mic drop ! 🎤
In that moment I realised the only pressure was coming from my own internal high standards and desire to do well.
I made the decision at the last possible moment to see it through.
I dedicated my skate to Kim and to the lessons she has also gifted me which seemed so appropriate given we are in the time of celebrating Matariki.
💫Courage to show up despite the odds being against you.
💫Determination and grace in the face of challenge.
💫Taking each moment as it comes - it is what it is.
💫Compassion for myself- I am accepted and worthy regardless of the result.
Thank you to all who engaged in pep talks with me.
Thank you to all my team mates and coaches for the support.
Congratulations to everyone showing up at Nationals. You are all an inspiration 💫🫶

Feeling utterly devastated about losing my best friend of nearly 30 years today, Kim was just 44years old. 😭💫
💫💫💫
Brave beautiful soul
Courageously fighting, but
Now it’s time to rest.
💫💫💫
The most incredible brave soul I’ve ever met. Who showed up with courage and grace through each hurdle in her battle with cancer.
You taught me what it means to truly live and appreciate each moment, to love fully and completely.
You brought out my inner child and accepted all aspects and versions of me through the years.
Every time I dress up I will think of you. 💃
Every sunrise I’ll think of you.
Every time I encounter challenges I will think of you and remind myself ‘it is what it is’.
I have been writing Haiku most days to work through the pain and grief of knowing that this day would come.
In this past two weeks I’ve seen some spectacular sunrises and cherished some beautiful moments with you. What I realise is that words or photos can not do justice to the awe and majesty of life, of love, of you. 💫❤️🫶
I feel and emptiness and pain like no other. You truly are a unicorn 🦄. I hope there is a magical unicorn playground we will meet in one day. EMOK 4 EVA

Preparation is key. 🔑
When you understand anatomy, physiology and the energetics of movement it can make your sequencing more potent and offer students the opportunity to feel more adequately prepared for what lies ahead.
This involves improving proprioception through techniques like:-
💆♀️Myofascial Release
🧠Somatics
💫Regressions
🙌Using both active and passive range of motion exercises.
💪 Eccentric and isometric work to increase motor unit recruitment and cortical involvement.
🫶Nerve flossing to help the nerves slide and glide a little better and reduce tension around the nerve improving range of motion.
🌪️Rotational movement and even flexion is helpful for improving movement through the facet joints in the thoracic spine.
Here a a few of my favourite ways to prep for back bends like dancers pose or full dancer - Natarajasana.
Join me this week either on the livestream Mon, Wed, Fri 6.30am (link in bio).
Or in person Monday and Tuesday and Friday.

Feeling all the feels as I reflect on the last 2 weeks.
5 flights, 5 time zones in 6 days. ✈️
Spending precious time with my bestie in Melbourne. 🥰🫶
Being with family in the UK.
Reconnecting with old clients and friends in Soho.
Tripping around Seville being amazed by the architecture and sights. 😲
And then reconnecting with the family at
My first training with was in 2013. I was so blown away 🤯with her knowledge, passion and delivery of complex concepts that it set me on the path to further study with Yoga Medicine. 🤓
It was such a delight to catch up with teachers I met on previous trainings nearly 10 years ago.
And of course it was wonderful to make new connections and friends from around the globe.
At this training I had the honour and privilege of stepping into the role of assisting on the training.
Helping people lean into support, get snuggly and find that deep state of relaxation is something that really makes my heart sing. And wonderful to work alongside 🫶❤️
I had the privilege of teaching one of the restorative classes. Wow! Teaching 52 incredible teachers from around the globe, who are not just teachers but medical professionals, creatives, psychologists definitely got me a little nervous 😬.
I actually have to pinch myself as it feels somewhat like a dream.
Very much a dream come true for me. 🥹
Thank you for giving me this opportunity. Thank you Tiffany and for your light hearted, thorough and passionate delivery.
Feeling the bitter sweetness of goodbyes and also savouring how incredible and nourishing this experience has been for me.
Big love to you all. 💫🫶❤️

Here’s a fun way to work the feet 👣 and play with balance in your practice.
The feet 🦶 play such a vital role in proprioception and balance, yet we often forget about them and shove them into shoes 👞 limiting our awareness and ability to activate all of the muscles in the foot.
Try this fun little sequence.
🦶Scrunch toes to walk forward awakening the arch of the foot and toes. Thanks for this one. 🫶
🦶Tight rope walking backwards.
🦶Stand on tightrope and close eyes.
(Did you know these are also used to test neurological function)
🦶Balance turning the head and you can increase the challenge by counting backwards.
(Add a bee flying in your face for more perturbation 😂)
This is part of a fun online class I created around the feet, balance and apana vayu. Check it out online at Into Being.
What’s your favourite way to work the feet?
