Keen to take your mountaineering skills up a notch? ⛏️🧗‍♀️🏔️ Expressions of interest for our Intermediate Snowcraft course for 2026 close April 1. This course covers progressing from basic mountaineering into steeper alpine terrain involving two ice axes, pitched climbing and abseiling. Find out more via link in bio!

Mangorewa Gorge is open while we work towards an enduring agreement with mana whenua and DOC

The community is working on building a relationship with DOC and Tapuika iwi to better understand their views and concerns and talk about the future of climbing at this site. ACAT and the Rotorua Climbing Club are supporting this process by facilitating dialogue and providing expertise.

Please adhere to our crag behaviour guide when visiting the crag, and do not install any new fixed hardware.

8th December Club Night:

We're putting on a screening of the Climbing Film Tour in December for Auckland NZAC members only! This replaces our usual club night on December 8th.

Tickets are only $5 and there's an option to donate to ACAT and go into a draw for some epic prizes. Every $1 donated gives you 1 entry for the draw.

Introducing the 2026 Beginners Rock Climbing Course! The aim of this course is to upskill novice climbers with the knowledge, skills and ethics to belay and sport lead climb competently outdoors, designed for people who have limited climbing experience.
