🌟 Member Spotlight: The One & Only Sarah! 🌟
If you’ve spent more than five minutes at the Pukekohe Croquet Club, chances are you’ve bumped into Sarah. She’s a regular friendly face, keeps her finger firmly on the club pulse (she basically knows what everyone is up to before they do! 😉), and is an all-round gem.
In just a few short years with us, Sarah has tackled both Golf Croquet and Association Croquet, representing our club brilliantly in both codes.
She’s currently climbing the handicap ladder at a rate of knots—which makes total sense, given she’s also our Club Handicapper! (No pressure on the rest of us, right? 😅)
Check out the photos from her recent tournaments this month—including her brilliant 1st place in Division 3 at the Hamilton East GC Levels Singles! 🏆🎉
We are all exceptionally proud of Sarah and her commitment to our club and the sport.
Thinking about giving croquet a go?
Got a competitive streak? Croquet is a fantastic, tactical sport that’s physically accessible for almost everyone.
Looking for gentle outdoor fun? We offer a warm, welcoming space for great social connection and fresh air.
Come on down and meet Sarah and the rest of the friendly team at Pukekohe Croquet Club! 🔨✨

What a turnout for our official season opening!
The weather put on a show, and our lawns were buzzing with laughter, competitive spirits, and plenty of friendly banter.
Elaine Sharplin ran a fantastic three-game tournament, and Franklin Local Board rep Alan Cole joined the action—showing us all how it’s done despite only picking up a mallet once a year. Thanks Alan for opening the season for us.
The highlight was catching up with our retiring and past members over an incredible morning tea spread. A huge thank you to Norm, Gale, Stu, Anne, Norma, Ron, Judith, Jo, Alan, and Maureen for your years of dedication to our club community. Thanks to all the food producers and organisers.
Curious about croquet? Your first visit is free, and we love welcoming new faces at our friendly club.

What a weekend!
Our Soup ’n Buns ’N Fun tournament at Pukekohe went off with a bang—and true to form, the Irish luck was out in full force ☘️
A massive, top-o'-the-morning style shout-out to Donna Boden - The Irish Lady Harcourts Pukekohe for her continued sponsorship of the tournament. Donna, you’re an absolute gem—may your tea always be hot and your pockets full of gold.
We also owe a huge thanks to Bakers Delight Pukekohe for keeping us fueled up. They generously donated all our delicious lunch buns and some marvellous afternoon treats. Your continued support keeps our bellies full and our mallets swinging.
A big thanks to Ebbett Pukekohe, JB Hi-Fi Pukekohe and our very own Gale for their raffle prize donations.
It turns out no one wanted to share the top spot, leaving us with a deadlock tie in both sections:
* Section A Winners: Brian & Mei Williams (Pt Chevalier) & Scott Martins & Sarah C. Lin (Pukekohe)
* Section B Winners: John Hyde & Suzanne Caron (Devonport) & Roy Perrin & Collin Spencer-Inight (Pukekohe)
Cracking effort from all of you 🏆
It was a brilliant, social day with snappy 30-minute games that kept everyone on their toes. Post-lunch featured the Centre Peg Shoot-out, where players battled it out for some extraordinarily stylish croquet hats (cheers to Jenny and Nonnie for donating those beauty prizes).
These events simply don't happen without a small army behind the scenes. A massive thanks to our:
* Kitchen coordinator and helpers 🥣
* Bakers and master soup-makers 🥖
* Raffle organiser 🎟️
* Referees and grounds team 🚜
* Treasurer
* Tournament manager and the all-important cleaner-upperers 🧹
Cheers to everyone who came out, played hard, and had a laugh. Until next time—may the wind be always at your back! 🍀

🧙♀️ Garden Gnome Sighting at Pukekohe Croquet Club!🧙♀️
Members have reported a rare Croquet Garden Gnome roaming the club grounds... armed with gloves, a wheelbarrow and an impressive work ethic! 🌱🌼
Our mystery gnome is none other than Charlotte, who has been volunteering around the club as part of her William Pike Challenge. The gardens are looking happier, the weeds are feeling nervous, and we're incredibly grateful for everything she's done.
As if that wasn't enough, Charlotte and her little sister Paige have also been giving croquet a go on our Saturday club days. Our member, Brendon, has had an absolute ball introducing Charlotte to the game—although we're not sure whether he's been teaching croquet or recruiting another lifelong croquet addict! 😄
A massive thank you, Charlotte. Your willingness to pitch in, have a laugh and embrace every challenge has made a real difference. We hope your William Pike Challenge has been just as rewarding as you've been to us. 💚🌿

✂️🌸 The hydrangeas didn't know what hit them! 🌸✂️
Armed with secateurs, plenty of good conversation, and only minimal supervision from the local birds, a fantastic group of members tackled the annual hydrangea prune today.
Our club doesn't have paid staff or a team of garden gnomes working overnight. Everything that happens around the club is thanks to members lending a hand when they can.
We like to think of it as "everyone doing a little." If everyone does a small job, nobody ends up with a giant one... and somehow the gardens keep looking this good!
A massive thank you to everyone who came along today. Your time, laughter, and willingness to help are what make our club such a great place to be. 💚
