We’re getting ready for the first week of Year 5/6 Miniball on Monday 31 August at EA Networks Centre! 💚💛

There will be a few different things happening throughout the afternoon, so please make sure you check the times below if you are involved.

📅 Monday 31 August

🕞 3:30–5:00pm – Girls Got Game: Have-a-Go Sessions
For all players registered for Girls Got Game.

🦓 5:15–6:00pm – Referee Skills Session
For everyone who has registered to referee Miniball.

🏀 5:15–6:30pm – Boys Skills & Drills
For those involved with the Boys Miniball competition.

📋 5:15–5:45pm – Coaches & Managers Meeting
📍 Community Room by the Pool
For all Boys Miniball coaches and managers

Coaches will then head out to help with the BBMC lead drills.

🏀 BMC Players Making Their Mark in CBA Prems! 🏀

A huge congratulations to Yasmin Larry and Grace Adams on taking out the Canterbury Basketball Association Women’s Prems title with Checkers Basketball Club! 🏆👏

We also had a number of our current and ex-BMC players competing in the CBA grades this season, including Nick Fechney, Jorja Abernethy, Sienna Poyner and Riley Sa in Womens and Mens prems. 🔥

We love seeing our players past and present stepping up, challenging themselves and competing at the next level!

So proud to see our BBMC whānau making their mark in Canterbury. 💚💛🏀

Although our U16, U18 and U19 Representative teams wrapped up their tournaments a few weeks ago, we still wanted to take a moment to give a huge thank you to the incredible businesses and individuals who supported our players through their Got Your Back (GYB) Tops.

Each of these supporters donated $100 to secure a prime spot on the GYB Top, helping our players with the costs of representing Basketball Mid Canterbury.

Your generosity helped make their representative journey possible, and we are incredibly grateful for every person and business who chose to get behind our young athletes.

Are you Year 7 or above and want to get more involved in basketball?

We’re looking for students to join our Miniball referee team from Monday 31 August! 🙌

⭐ This year, referees will earn points instead of cash payments!

Referee games, build up your points and work towards rewards such as:

🏀 Basketball Mid Canterbury merchandise
🎁 Other rewards throughout the season

You’ll also have the opportunity to get involved with other Miniball grades during Term 4, including:

Tuesday: Year 3 3x3
Wednesday: Year 1/2 Skills & Drills

Another big night of basketball with two great games on the court!

🔥 Eagles 88 – 127 Nomads
Nomads put on a shooting masterclass, knocking down 18 three-pointers at 50%, with Nick Fechney finishing with an incredible 42 points. The fast-paced Nomads offence and 30 assists helped them pull away for a big win.

⚡ Checkers 85 – 96 FDWNZ
A tight contest all the way through three quarters before FDWNZ pulled away late. Their defensive pressure was a huge factor, forcing 17 steals, while Checkers dominated the boards with 52 rebounds.
