🚶‍♀️👀 STOP. LOOK. CHECK FOR AN UMPIRE.

Before walking behind a court, please take a moment to check whether an umpire is coming.

Umpires need a clear, safe path to move with play, and spectators stepping into their way can create a safety risk for everyone - umpire and spectators alike! Last Thursday night alone, one Premier 1 game had to be stopped FIVE times by an umpire as spectators were in the way.

No one wants to be the person who stops a game because they're in the way, cos all eyes will be on you! 👀

Please:
✅ Check for approaching umpires before crossing or walking down court ends
✅ If play is headed your way, wait until it's down the other end before proceeding
✅ Keep walkways clear during games
✅ Help us create a safe environment for players, officials and spectators

A few seconds of awareness makes a big difference. Thanks for helping keep our games flowing and our umpires safe! 💚💛

It's time to announce the winners of our next Team of the Week prize, thanks to the team at Joe's Garage Ashburton! This week's winners are... Hampstead Netball Club Ray White Social Gold!🥳

Hampstead Ray White Gold were nominated for always showing support and kindness to volunteers and umpires. This has been highlighted a couple of times recently, in the kindness they showed to a couple of umpires who were having a rough night for a couple of different reasons 😣🤕 This is the kind of stuff we love to see - it's super important that our umpires are treated with respect, they're giving up their time to make sure our competitions can happen. There's no game without umpires! So thank you to this team for the kindness they show.

With the netball season now in full swing, we wanted to take this opportunity to issue a reminder to our wider netball community — players, whānau and supporters - that everyone deserves to be treated with respect while they're at netball.

Netball should be a safe, positive and fun environment for our young people. There is no place for verbal abuse — on the court, on the sideline, or anywhere in the stadium.

Please be kind, follow requests from venue staff, and help keep spaces welcoming and accessible for all. If you see poor behaviour, speak up or let a duty manager know.

Let’s all do our part to keep netball positive and supportive for everyone 🫶
