The Shram Sanskriti Below 1700 FIDE Rapid Rating Chess Tournament concluded successfully with strong participation from players across different age groups and categories.

Raj Kumar Rai emerged as the overall champion, scoring 8 points and winning the first prize of Rs. 10,000.

With a total prize fund of Rs. 106,500, the tournament recognized outstanding performances across the main standings and multiple special categories, providing opportunities for players of different ages and experience levels.

Held at SPGA Hall, Satdobato, Lalitpur, the tournament received technical support from Pavilions Chess Academy and contributed to promoting competitive chess and developing young chess talent in Nepal.

Raj Kumar Rai Crowned Champion

The Shram Sanskriti Below 1700 FIDE Rapid Rating Chess Tournament concluded successfully with strong participation from players across different age groups and categories.

Raj Kumar Rai emerged as the overall champion, scoring 8 points and winning the first prize of Rs. 10,000.

With a total prize fund of Rs. 106,500, the tournament recognized outstanding performances across the main standings and multiple special categories, providing opportunities for players of different ages and experience levels.

Held at SPGA Hall, Satdobato, Lalitpur, the tournament received technical support from Pavilions Chess Academy and contributed to promoting competitive chess and developing young chess talent in Nepal.

Raj Kumar Rai Crowned Champion

The Shram Sanskriti Below 1700 FIDE Rapid Rating Chess Tournament concluded successfully with strong participation from players across different age groups and categories.

Raj Kumar Rai emerged as the overall champion, scoring 8 points and winning the first prize of Rs. 10,000. Panch Kumar Sahu finished second with 8 points and received Rs. 8,000, while Abin Pandey secured third place with 8 points and received Rs. 6,000.

Madan Rai finished fourth with 7.5 points, followed by Janak Raj Joshi in fifth place with 7 points. Agrim Sainju, Prachanda Ramtel, Al Saiyad Mohamed Jamil, Sabin Udash, and Sundar Shrestha completed the top ten.

The top ten players shared a total of Rs. 46,500 in main prizes, with attractive cash prizes also awarded across various special categories.

In the Best Unrated category, Sherpa Dorchi secured first place, followed by Ambar Tamang and Litil Raj Poudel. In the Best Veteran category, Ram Chandra Shrestha took first place, followed by Sanu Maharjan and Bishnu Lal Limbu.

In the Best Women category, Sneha Yadav emerged as the winner, while Kusum Ghising and Kripa Lama secured second and third positions, respectively.

The tournament also featured several junior categories. Ankur Pokharel won the U8 category, Rajan Sah won U10, Dipan Mainali won U12, Saatwik Man Tuladhar won U14, and Harshvardhan Rathi emerged victorious in U16.

In the U10 Girls category, Ishani Bhattarai secured first place, followed by Ankita Karki and Sapana Kunwar.

The Best Pavilions Chess Academy category was won by Mohamed Jasim Al Saiyed, with Kritik Acharya finishing second and Arjan Bhandary third.

With a total prize fund of Rs. 106,500, the tournament recognized outstanding performances across the main standings and multiple special categories, providing opportunities for players of different ages and experience levels.

Praggnanandhaa has won the 2026 Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz, finishing with 23.5 points.
Sindarov claimed second place with 22 points after a fantastic tournament, while Wesley So finished third on 20.5. Levon Aronian took fourth with 19, and Fabiano Caruana, Leinier Dominguez, and Jorden van Foreest shared fifth place on 17.
