Young Nepali climbing guide Nima Ungdi Sherpa successfully scaled Mount Dhaulagiri-I (8,167m) on Saturday morning(April 18, 2026), raising the flag of Base Camp Snooker & Restaurant at the summit in a symbolic display of local pride and support.

Upon reaching the top of the world’s seventh-highest mountain, Nima unfurled the restaurant’s flag, marking both a personal milestone and a gesture of recognition for his backers.

Chairman Pasang Sherpa expressed pride and gratitude, calling the ascent a moment of honor for the establishment.

Originally from Makalu Rural Municipality–2 in Sankhuwasabha, district, Nima is emerging as one of Nepal’s promising mountaineer. His mountaineering résumé includes seven ascents of Mount Everest (Sagarmatha), 7 times, along with successful climbs of Mount K2, Mount Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Khan Tengri, and Lenin Peak.

Currently working as a climbing guide with Pioneer Adventure Pvt. Ltd., Nima shared he aims to continue carrying the Base Camp Snooker & Restaurant flag on future Himalayan expeditions, representing both his community and supporters on the world’s highest peaks.
