🇳🇵 NEPAL FLASH FLOOD UPDATE — PLEASE SUPPORT NEPAL

The devastating flash flooding in Nepal continues to affect thousands of people, with families searching for loved ones and communities facing enormous loss and uncertainty.

According to a Canadian Press report published August 28, 2026, 121 foreign nationals have been rescued near the Nepal–China border, but no Canadians were among those rescued.

Nepal's disaster management authority reported 1,924 people missing. The Nepal Tourism Board had listed 667 foreign nationals among the missing, including 25 Canadians, while Global Affairs Canada said it was aware of 30 Canadians and permanent residents missing in Nepal and the Tibet region.

Canada is deploying five consular officials to Kathmandu to assist Canadians and coordinate with local authorities.

The devastating flash floods along the Bhotekoshi River have caused tremendous loss and uncertainty for families and communities in Nepal.

Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected — those who have lost loved ones, those who remain missing, the injured, and all families still waiting for news. 🙏

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has also expressed concern over the disaster and said the Canadian government is closely monitoring the situation. Canadians currently in the affected region are being asked to register with the ROCA system, and Canada has said it is ready to provide support as rescue operations continue.

We are deeply grateful to the rescue teams, security personnel, medical workers, volunteers and local communities working tirelessly to save lives.

The world has lost one of its greatest mountaineers. Nims inspired millions through his courage, determination, and extraordinary achievements in the Himalayas, including climbing all 14 of the world's 8,000-meter peaks in record time.

His legacy will continue to inspire future generations of climbers around the world.

Our heartfelt condolences go to his family, friends, teammates, and the entire mountaineering community.

🏔️ Our Thoughts Are with the Mountaineering Community

A tragic avalanche on Broad Peak (8,047 m) in Pakistan's Karakoram Mountains has deeply affected the international climbing community.

Among those involved is renowned Nepal-born mountaineer Nirmal "Nims" Purja and his expedition team. Rescue teams continue searching in extremely difficult weather and high-altitude conditions.

Authorities have confirmed that climbers from Nepal and Oman have lost their lives, while search and rescue efforts continue for the remaining team members.

This tragedy is a reminder of the immense courage, sacrifice, and risks faced by mountaineers, Sherpa guides, and support teams who venture into the world's highest mountains.
