Magical Flow

Myself

Love wasn’t cancelled.
The date was.

And maybe that’s what
I needed to discover.

That love doesn’t disappear
when someone cannot meet you
in the moment you hoped they would.

Love stays.

In the anger
I allow myself to feel.

In the sadness
I no longer have to hide.

In the compassion
I can hold for him
without abandoning myself.

In choosing to go home
when my body whispers,
I don’t want to stay.

Love is there
when I choose myself.

And love is still there
when I choose to see him.

His truth
doesn’t have to erase mine.

My truth
doesn’t have to make him wrong.

Maybe this is
a new kind of love.

A love spacious enough
for both.

For disappointment
and compassion.

For freedom
and connection.

For desire
and discernment.

For me
and for you.

I don’t know
where this will go.

And maybe love
isn’t asking me to know.

Maybe she is asking me
to stay open.

To feel.

To trust.

To discover.

To choose.

Without leaving myself behind.

Because I am learning
that the deeper I choose myself,

the deeper
I can love you.

Not from need.

Not from fear.

Not from the longing
to finally be chosen.

But from freedom.

And wherever I go,

whatever happens,

whoever stays
or leaves,

love comes with me.

Because love isn’t something
another person gives me.

Love lives here.

In me.

And perhaps
this is sovereignty in love:

to open my heart
without losing myself.
