Every year, millions of people across the European Union become victims of crime. They deserve to be heard, protected and supported.
The Council has now adopted the revised Victims' Rights Directive, marking an important step towards a more victim-centred criminal justice system across the EU.
The new rules will:
β Improve access to information, guidance and emotional support
β Make it easier for victims to report crimes and participate in criminal proceedings
β Strengthen victim support services and protection measures
β Reinforce safeguards for children and other vulnerable victims
β Better protect victims' personal data
β Improve access to compensation
By strengthening victims' rights, the EU is helping ensure that justice is not only delivered, but that victims receive the support and protection they need throughout the process.

π’ The presentations from the 7th World Congress on Probation and Parole are now available!
Held in Bali, Indonesia, from 14β17 April 2026, and organised by the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections of the Republic of Indonesia, the Congress brought together over 467 participants from 48 countries to exchange knowledge, share good practices and discuss the future of probation and parole worldwide.
The Confederation of European Probation (CEP) was represented by President Annie Devos and Vice-President Daniel Danglades, with honorary member Jo Tein also present, sharing daily reflections and recap videos from the Congress.
