When I first started tango, someone told me:
“Tango IS walking. If you can truly walk well, you can dance tango.” 👣

I remember thinking:
“well…I have been walking my entire like. How hard can this be?!” 😏

Then I moved from open to close embrace and realise:
“Uuhh…that’s way more difficult than I thought…” 🤯

A few years into my tango journey, I discovered there wasn’t such a thing as THE tango walk. 😫

Nope!
🚩Because the walk changes with the music.
🚩With the orchestra.
🚩With the melody, rhythm, accents, phrasing…

And just when I thought, OK, now I finally understand it…
Someone would tell me:
💥“Push the floor more”
💥“Connect from your hips”
💥“What about your heel?”
💥“Your toes?”
💥“The inside of the foot?”
💥“And the outside?”

And that’s when I finally understood what they meant:
“If you can walk well, you can dance tango.” 🤷🏻‍♀️

❌Not because walking is easy.

✅ But because learning to walk in tango means learning to organise your body, communicate with your partner, and respond to the music - over and over again.

And apparently, I’m still not done exploring it. 😉

🎥 I’m currently preparing Embodied Tango Mechanics, where we’ll take the tango walk apart and look at what is really happening inside your body when you walk.

💬 What was the biggest “aha!” moment you had about your tango walk?
Tell me in the comments 👇🏻

🌀And if you’d like to go deeper, follow me - I’ll let you know when Embodied Tango Mechanics is ready. 💃

Getting a dance with the leaders I wanted to dance with has not always been easy.

Sometimes getting ANY dance would not be easy! 🙈
Even as a pro! 🤯

Throughout the years I have danced tango socially in milongas, festivals, marathons and several countries. 🌍

And milonga after milonga I have refined my strategies. 😋

👉🏻 This is what has been working best for me.

Which other tip or strategy do you use❓
💃Share it in the comments to help each other 🙌🏻

The first time I rewatched myself dancing, I didn’t like what I saw. 🫣

Has this ever occurred to you too❓

👉🏻Eventually, I realised that I didn’t like what I saw not because the steps were wrong.
💡But because the lines were the problem.

🤷🏻‍♀️ Nobody told me this at the beginning of my tango journey:
💠 technique and aesthetics aren’t two separate things.

🔆 The way you organize your spine.
🔆 The position of your head.
🔆 How you place your free leg.
🔆 The relationship between your limbs and your torso.
🔆 The way you create space around yourself.
All these details change the way a movement looks.

And no, I don’t think caring about how your tango looks means caring only about appearance. 🤪

💃 Tango is a physical conversation. 🕺

Your body communicates through movement, through space, through shape — and yes, through visual lines too.

🇮🇹 Perhaps I am biased because I’m Italian… but I do believe that a pleasure for the eyes is part of the experience. 😉

The beautiful thing is that this isn’t about being naturally elegant.
💡Body lines can be trained.💡

🔥 And once you become aware of them, you may be surprised by how much more beautiful your tango can look — without learning a single new figure.

💬 Which side do you recognize from your own videos?

Which interpretation do you prefer: melodic or rhythmic❓
Let me know in the comments. 👇🏻

❌ You do NOT need to know hundreds of embellishments.
✅ You just need to know HOW to transform the same movement.

👉🏻 In this reel I’m dancing exactly the same embellishment every time.

🤷🏻‍♀️What changes? 🤔

✨ My body energy.
✨ The quality of the movement.
✨ The intention behind it.

A melodic phrase asks for one kind of energy.
A rhythmic phrase asks for another.

💡The movement stays the same.
♻️ The expression becomes completely different.

🎼 Musicality isn’t about collecting movements for different types of music.
👉🏻 It’s about learning how to change your body energy and quality of movement according to the musical layer you want to interpret.

🎧 Of course, before you can express the music, you first need to recognise what you’re hearing to decide what you want to interpret.👂🏻

📽️ That’s exactly what I teach inside Tango Musicality Explained:
💠 practical tools that help you hear the music and translate it into movement,
💠 not by memorizing more steps,
💠 but by transforming the ones you already know.

👉🏻Want to improve your tango connection?
👉🏻Follow for more tips!

In my 1:1 coaching sessions, I work with dancers of all levels. 💃🕺From beginners to highly experienced tangueros & tangueras.

😯 Surprisingly, they often share the same challenge:
🚩communicating and connecting through their frame.
✔️Leaders and followers alike.

Many dancers believe they’re using their frame correctly, yet a large part of the information they intend to transmit never reaches their partner. ⛓️‍💥

Simply because they’re not using their frame to its full potential. 📶

The key lies in engaging your latissimus dorsi (lats) so that your 🔸lats, 🔸obliques, and 🔸transversus abdominis work together as ♻️ one integrated system, especially during upper-body dissociation.

While this connection 🔗is often easy to find when practicing alone in static positions, maintaining it while embracing a partner and moving together is a completely different challenge. 🤯
👉🏻That’s where communication, connection, and the quality of the embrace can start to fade. 🌓

💥On top of that, an inefficient frame can contribute to unnecessary tension, discomfort, or even pain - for you, your partner, or both.💥

🌟 Share this with a fellow tango dancer who would benefit from it.

📌In my next post, you’ll find a simple exercise to help you develop the connection between your lats and your core.

Stay tuned! 💫

💬 Tell me: have you ever taken a musicality class that left you inspired... but not actually more musical?
🙏🏻 Share your experience in the comments and I will reply!

🎶 Most musicality classes teach you to understand music.
But understanding music isn’t the same as dancing music. 💃

That’s why so many dancers leave musicality workshops thinking:
“Interesting... but I still don’t feel more musical.”🤔

Here’s what I believe instead:

❌ Different music → different steps.

✅ Same step → different energy.

In this reel I’m dancing the same side step, on the same musical phrase, every time.

❇️ The only thing that changes is the quality of movement.

Depending on:
🔹what I HEAR in the music
🔹what I DECIDE to dance in the moment
👉🏻The energy becomes melodic, rhythmic, syncopated... 👉🏻while the step stays exactly the same.

🦋 Because what I realised is that musicality isn’t about having hundreds of figures.

✨ It’s about learning how to transform the movement you already have.

🎥 That’s exactly what I teach inside my online Tango Musicality Course: practical tools that you can immediately apply in your dancing—without needing more steps.

💃 Follow for practical tango musicality tips you can use in your very next tanda.
