Like Freddie Mercury once so eloquently said: “Show must go on” and that is exactly what I have been working on. I can now announce that my yogaclasses and Jerry on Tour will continue during these trying times in a different form. The schedule and the workshops themselves have changed entirely. Below you will find an overview of everything.

I know these are hard times that ask a lot of us. We all need to make sacrifices in dealing with the whole situation. Many of you who benefit a lot of yoga classes, can’t go to your beloved studio’s to practice as you would like.

In order to make it a bIt better for you, for Studio Om I have recorded this video with a short hatha class.

On Wednesday I will also teach a live online Hatha class for Studio Om. More information can be found on the website of Studio Om.

I want to give a big shout out to all owner’s of yogastudio’s I work for in Leiden for all the hard work to make it possible to provide on line classes. They are making sure that in these chaotic and frightening times everybody can do yoga with their favorite teacher’s. Yoga is needed more than ever now. They also are securing at least part of our (yogateacher’s) income.

I know it is not easy realizing this in a professional and fast manner and of course their will be bugs here and there. Everybody understands. But you are making it happen as we speak.

So from the bottom of my heart: Thank you In random order) Jasmijn, Guido, Santa, Marie-Jose and Nathaly and of course everyone supporting you (too many to name) in this huge endeavour.

JERRY ON TOUR: COVID-19 UPDATE

These times remind me very much of a story from Edgar Allen Poe I read many years ago. It is called “The mask of the red death” and is about people locking themselves up in order to avoid the red plague. For these people it does not end well unfortunately.

I still know that when I read it, I thought that it was a story far in the past and that a situation like that could never happen again. How wrong I was. Right now we are in a similar situation. The only difference is that we have the opportunity to get out of this story alive and well and maybe even better than before. We actually get a rare opportunity to reconsider our priorities, get back to our basics and from there build a better, more sustainable version of ourselves and the earth.

As you know I take my responsibility as a teacher very seriously. For me this means that I want people to be and feel safe in my classes, workshops and trainings. Fortunately the studios I work for all have taken measures to ensure that the chance of a possible contamination is minimized as much as humanly possible. As the situation develops I imagine more measures to be taken. Rest assured that I will always err on the side of safety.

Apart from that, together with the studios I have decided to postpone/cancel all Jerry on Tour dates for the next couple of weeks (until 1st April) at least. This is a hard decision to take for me as there are all kinds of things to consider as you can imagine. But after lots of thought and discussion I have decided this.

I am not sure how much longer I will be able to teach the regular classes like I do. Please stay informed of the communication from the respective studio’s.

Also rest assured that when this is over Jerry on Tour will return with a vengeance. I will use this time to find new inspiration and see where I can improve.
