Our Vice-captain; Thessa van der Waardt

Since joining us last season, Thessa has quickly become an important part of the team — and this season she’s stepping up as our vice-captain! 💪

A true all-rounder, Thessa can be deployed pretty much anywhere in the backline. With her clever running lines, cheeky kicks through, strong passing game and her strength in the breakdown, she’s always one to watch on the pitch. 👀🔥

Off the pitch? Well… let’s just say we’re always hoping for more crazy stories in the post-match showers🤣🚿

Starting off strong with our captain - Demy Puijpe

Always involved, always thinking ahead and often already one step ahead of the game.
Demy is a scrum-half who brings composure, technical ability and a natural feel for the game to the team. She spots opportunities early, moves the ball with purpose and knows when to speed things up or take matters into her own hands.

But her impact goes far beyond what she does with the ball. As captain, Demy is one of the driving forces within the squad. She brings energy, keeps her teammates focused and knows how to lift the team when an extra push is needed.

A player who stays composed under pressure and constantly pushes those around her to be their best.

Welcome to our next newest signing:
Mare Schreuder! 💙💛

Mare has been playing rugby at Wageningen since she was six. In addition, she has been active at Dutch Girls Rugby from the beginning, after which she also made the step to Young Orange Under 18.

After a tough period in which she recovered from a cruciate ligament injury, with the necessary ups and downs, she is now working hard and rehabilitating to make her comeback next season. The fact that she came to study in Leiden completed the move to DIOK.

Mare is known as a true all-rounder and hard worker, who can always be found near the ball. With her game insight, good handling skills and wide useability, she is a great asset to the team.

We are curious about her talents and look forward to seeing her in action at DIOK this season.

Time to introduce our next player:
Gwen van der Schoot💥

After spending four years developing her game at RC Delft, she’s joining our team. She brings not only valuable experience, but also an infectious energy that inspires everyone around her to raise their game.

Alongside her club career, she’s also proud to represent the Netherlands Women’s National Rugby Team, bringing international experience and a competitive mindset to the team.

On the pitch, she’s a player you can always count on. Technically gifted, with great rugby awareness and the speed to create and finish opportunities. Combine that with her physicality in contact, and you’ve got a player no one enjoys coming up against. Whether it’s making a dominant carry, putting in a big defensive hit, or lifting the team when it matters most, she gives everything for the badge every single time.

We’re thrilled to have her on board and can’t wait to see what she’ll bring to the team this season!💙💛

Welcome to our first newest signing,
Puck van den Akker!

After playing for Delft for one season, she has chosen to join DIOK this season. She is a valuable asset in both the forwards and backs with her high work rate, insight, and versatile skills! Furthermore, she has been selected for the Dutch national team’s training squad!🧡

We look forward to the upcoming season!💙💛
