Cleaning expert and Author Michael Svoboda recently gave us a copy of his new book “Tatort Stiegenhaus” a collection of stories that highlight the importance of quality in professional building services.

January marked the beginning of a new cycle for the Thousand Days Project in Sorocaba, Brazil, a project we proudly support through the Excentr Foundation.

After successfully completing the previous cycle in late 2025, the team resumed activities on January 13 with a clear strategic focus: preparation, alignment and community integration.

Rather than rushing into ex*****on, January was dedicated to building a strong foundation for long-term impact.

In the communities of Jardim Guadalajara, Jardim Tatiana and Jardim Cerrado, the team:
• Held 2 meetings with 5 community leaders
• Conducted multiple exploratory field visits
• Established a strategic partnership with a local public school
• Organized 3 in-depth internal planning sessions
• Participated in a community food distribution event to strengthen trust and local understanding

When entering new territories, trust comes before implementation.
Relationships come before results.
Listening comes before action.

The Thousand Days Project focuses on supporting mothers and children during the first 1,000 days of life the most critical period for long-term development. Proper preparation ensures that when direct support begins, it is effective, culturally aligned and sustainable.

Next steps:
• Official community launch
• Registration and screening of mothers
• Formation of the first participant group
• Opening meeting with selected families

Impact is not built overnight. It is built deliberately.

Over the past year, through our work in Brazil, we met Fagner and his wife Regiani. Fagner was our translater, and during our time together we became friends. They are two people who dedicate their lives to giving children real opportunities, even in the toughest circumstances, in the favelas of São Paulo🇧🇷

Their focus is on the first 1,000 days of a child’s life.

The period that, as they explained to me, shapes everything that comes after. That story stayed with us.

At Excentr, and it made us realize something important: Thanks to what we are building together, we can do more than grow a business. We can create real, positive impact as a company.

That’s why we launched the Excentr Foundation.

Since January 1st, 2026, through our first initiative in Brazil, we now support families and young children during their first 1,000 days of life.

This year, our goal is to positively impact:

🌱 ~1,500+ people indirectly

🌱 Dozens of trained professionals

Together, we are building something that will last far beyond our industry.

And that is something to be proud of. 💚

🥶The cold in The Netherlands motivated me to share a quick ❄️WINTER SURVIVAL GUIDE❄️ to keep your scrubber driers and batteries running smoothly this season.

The Equipment: Watch out for the “Ice Expansion”; The biggest enemy of a scrubber drier right now is hidden water. Even after draining, small amounts of water can remain trapped in the thin hoses and pumps. As we know, water expands when it freezes and that pressure is enough to crack pumps, valves, and fittings overnight.

💡 Pro Tip: If you can’t store your machines in a heated warehouse (for example, if they are sitting in a van overnight after a demo), add some antifreeze to the clean water tank and run it for a up to a minute. This simple step can save you from costly repairs and downtime!

🔋 The Batteries: Why Lithium Needs a Warm 🤗
You might notice that your Lithium-Ion and LiFePO4 batteries behave a little differently in the cold. Just like us, their chemistry prefers room temperature!

Why do they dislike the cold? Inside the battery, ions move through a liquid electrolyte to create energy. When it gets cold, that liquid becomes thicker and “sluggish.” The ions have to work much harder to move around, which increases internal resistance.

💡Pro Tip: Store your batteries in the driver cabin while travelling to an demonstration so the batteries can warm up!

What you might notice:

Machines (especially the X1) doenst start up even tho there is still some power left.

Reduced Capacity: You might see a temporary drop in runtime or “range,” as the battery can’t release its energy as efficiently.

Voltage Sag: The machine might feel slightly less powerful under heavy load.

⚠️ Critical Reminder: Never try to charge a lithium battery that is frozen! Charging below freezing temperatures can cause permanent damage to the battery cells (plating). Always bring the batteries inside and let it warm up to room temperature before plugging it in.
