How does glaucoma affect an everyday activity such as reading? 📖

The latest WGA Journal of Glaucoma Paper of the Month features Mariana Chiba Ikeda, presenting the paper: “Reading Performance and Eye Movement Patterns in Glaucoma.”

Using eye-tracking data, the study found that patients with glaucoma demonstrated poorer reading performance than controls of a similar age, cognitive function and educational level, including a greater number of saccades while reading.

The findings offer an interesting perspective on the functional impact of glaucoma, looking beyond traditional clinical measures to consider how the disease can affect activities that are part of everyday life.
