I know a lot of people are eager to play go off-line. Unfortunately also for 2021 we had to decide to cancell the tournament that is traditionally held on the weekend around ascension day.
10/04/2020
Our apologies for mentioning this only on our website, but not yet on the page. But sadly, AIGT 2020 has been cancelled due to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis:
Cancelled due to Covid-19 (Corona Virus)
As the Dutch government had forbidden all events until June 1st, the Amsterdam Tournament 2020 will be cancelled.
All participants who have already paid will get their money back in the coming weeks.
We hope everyone will be safe in these trying times, and we hope to see you all next year at the AIGT 2021!

WHAT IS NEW AND/OR EXCITING AT AIGT 2020?
* The new location much closer to the city centre. As the EGCC has -- sadly -- by now closed its doors, we had to look for a new location for the AIGT. Fortunately, we have found a very suitable location, the Cygnus Gymnasium at Vrolikstraat 8, easily reachable by tram and metro.
* There will be €325 of prize money specifically for the top female players.
* There will be increased prize money for the rapid tournament.
* We will have our own catering at the location.
GAME REVIEWS
* There will be an opportunity for participants to get game reviews by Rob van Zeijst, 6th dan, at the event location.
We hope to see you all in May in Amsterdam!

SIDE EVENTS AT AIGT 2020
Besides this year's main AIGT event, we will organize two side events:
- The DNM Rapid, which will be held at the community center "Ons Genoegen" on Friday May 22 and Saturday May 23. The total amount of prize money for the Rapid will be €500, of which a prize of €250 for the winner. Besides the rapid, at this location there will also be opportunity for eating a good meal.
- The usual Blitz tournament on Wednesday May 21, which this year will be held in Cafe De 2 Klaveren. We will have the basement of the café available to us this evening, so it will be possible to play the Blitz in relatively quiet surroundings. 12 minutes per player per game, no overtime, and 4 or 5 rounds during the evening. The total prize money for the Blitz will be €250!
Make sure to register before the 1st of April, to get a full discount. With this discount, full costs will be 40 euros for the main tournament + the two side events, or 25 euros for all events on Saturday and Sunday.

Rob van Zeijst 7d, multiple-times European champion, will be the official commentator of the tournament: during the entire event he will provide game commentaries. Feel free to approach him during the breaks of the tournament to review your game.
