When you enable unkindness, you send a message that it is acceptable to treat you unkindly —

and you are also treating the other unkindly, by allowing them to continue acting that way.

Shift:

“‘Turn the other cheek’ was never meant to make you a punching bag.

It points to non-hatred — not self-abandonment.

But this teaching can be twisted into a negative belief that says:

"If you are "good" "spiritual" "kind", you must tolerate ongoing disrespect, manipulation or abuse.”

This is not compassion.

It is self-abandonment dressed in spiritual language.

One of the reasons the majority of people fail to leave addiction is fear — the limiting belief of who they will be without it, and who will still be there once the drinking buddies are gone.

Friendships formed during substance abuse are inherently fragile. When there is self-destruction, one cannot truly love another.
Where there are no boundaries, there can be no peace or contentment.

Ten people who were once close to me have passed due to their chosen lifestyle.

The version of me that existed within that dynamic no longer exists.

I noticed anger arising when others related to me through old projections. Those relationships were allowed to fall away — not out of rejection, but because authenticity cannot exist where one is expected to remain unchanged.

For a relationship to be real, both sides must be free to be themselves.

There is deep gratitude for the entire process.

What once appeared as loss revealed something simple: I am never truly alone.

Connection is not limited to form or presence and it includes those who have passed through the state of deep meditation.

Even in moments that felt like aloneness, one relationship remained — the one I no longer abandon.

Happiness has gradually shifted from being shaped by others or circumstances to being rooted inwardly.

True freedom is when happiness is no longer determined by what happens outside or by who is present — but becomes a personal choice.
