The Hurricanes finished the Fairtree Men’s Pro Series with a seven-run victory over the Royals.

Michael Levitt (51), Max O’Dowd (46) and David Rushmere (30) laid the platform for 171/5, before the Hurricanes held their nerve with the ball. Sebastiaan Braat led the attack with 2/33, while Aaditt Jain, Olivier Elenbaas, Jens Blankestijn and Asief Hoseinbaks all claimed a wicket.

Bas de Leede fought hard with 63 for the Royals, but the Hurricanes closed out a competitive contest.

The Royals have won the toss and elected to field first, with the Hurricanes set to bat at Schiebroekse Park.

Another closely fought contest in the Fairtree Men’s Pro Series saw the Seafarers edge the Royals by five runs.

Johan Smal’s quickfire 31 from 15 balls helped lift the Seafarers to 178/8, with Cedric de Lange (38) and Kent Goedeke (24) also making valuable contributions.

The Royals threatened through Saqib Zulfiqar’s outstanding 91 and Bas de Leede’s 43, but A***n Dutt (2/32), Tim Pringle (2/27), Shariz Ahmad (2/36) and Daniel Glover (2/23) shared the wickets as the Seafarers held their nerve to defend the total.

𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁 🏏

A batting-friendly wicket set the stage for an entertaining opening T20 in the Fairtree Men’s Pro Series.

After being promoted to open, Shariz Ahmad struck a superb 57 from 26 balls to help the Seafarers post 205/4, with Clayton de Lange (44) and Scott Edwards (34) also making valuable contributions.

The Hurricanes fought hard in reply, led by Max O’Dowd’s impressive 78 from 51 balls, while Sebastiaan Braat capped off a strong all-round performance with an unbeaten 27 after earlier claiming 2/29. Despite the late push, the Hurricanes fell 11 runs short.

𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿’𝘀 𝗩𝗶𝗲𝘄 🎙️

Ahead of the opening T20 of the Men’s Pro Series, Max O’Dowd looked ahead to the switch in format, the balance of the Hurricanes squad and the opportunity these matches provide.

“We’ve got a mixture of experience and youth,” said Max, with players “looking to stake a claim” ahead of the upcoming Cricket World Cup League 2 series. Following this morning’s ETPL Draft, he also spoke about the excitement around the group, adding that “the guys are really excited for it.”

And when it comes to Hurricanes vs Seafarers, Max knows exactly what to expect: “When we put the blue and yellow on, it gets pretty heated.”
