Op naar Tenerife! 🇪🇸

Thomas en Karla zijn met Jong Oranje O.18 afgereisd naar Tenerife voor het World Aquatics Women’s U18 Water Polo Championship.

Thomas is mee als assistent-coach en Karla als fysiotherapeut/keepers trainster. Een mooie ervaring en een bijzondere manier om De Zaan ook naast het water te vertegenwoordigen op het wereldtoneel. 💙🧡

We wensen Thomas, Karla en de rest van het team heel veel succes op Tenerife! 🇳🇱💪

Off to Tenerife! 🇪🇸

Thomas and Karla have traveled to Tenerife with the Dutch U18 Women’s Water Polo team for the World Aquatics Women’s U18 Water Polo Championship.

Thomas is part of the staff as assistant coach, and Karla serves as physical therapist and goalkeeper trainer. A fantastic experience and a special way to represent De Zaan beyond the pool on the global stage. 💙🧡

Champions League Kwalificatie 🏆

De groepsindeling voor de eerste kwalificatieronde is bekend!

Onze dames zijn ingedeeld in Group B en nemen het in Dunaújváros 🇭🇺 op tegen DFVE 🇭🇺 en Rapallo Pallanuoto 🇮🇹.

De eerste Europese wedstrijden van het seizoen staan voor de deur. 💙💚

Champions League Qualification 🏆

The group draw for the first qualifying round is set!

Our women’s team has been drawn into Group B and will face DFVE 🇭🇺 and Rapallo Pallanuoto 🇮🇹 in Dunaújváros, Hungary.

Our first European games of the season are just around the corner. 💙💚



This season, our women’s team will once again compete for a place in the Champions League. We will start our European campaign in Hungary.

There are 22 teams participating in total. Of these, 14 teams are divided into four different groups. We are in Group B. The remaining eight teams do not play in the group stage, based on last season’s results.

The top two teams from each group advance to the Champions League. The remaining teams will continue their European campaign in the Euro Cup.

Our first opponent is the Hungarian team: DFVE

The team from Dunaújváros will play at home and will therefore host this qualifying round. DFVE is a well-established name in Hungarian women’s water polo and has an experienced squad, including captain Garda Krisztina and internationals such as Sümegi Nóra and Szabó Nikolett.

In the 2025/26 season, DFVE finished fifth in the Hungarian league.

DFVE also has plenty of European experience. Last season, they qualified for the Champions League group stage through the qualifying round. The qualifying round was also held in Dunaújváros, where they defeated us 15–13 and finished top of the group.

A team we certainly cannot underestimate, especially with the home advantage on their side.

Our next opponent is Italian side Rapallo Pallanuoto!

The team from the Italian Riviera is one of the top teams in the Italian Serie A1. Last season, they showed their quality by reaching the semi-finals, where they eventually lost to the number one team in Italy.

Deze zomer ben ik een nieuwe uitdaging aangegaan om fit te blijven voor het aankomende waterpoloseizoen. Even iets anders dan waterpolo dus! 🥊🇹🇭

Ik ben naar Thailand gevlogen voor een echte Muay Thai experience met PLUG OUT WORLD 🌍 !

Dat betekende 2 à 3 trainingen per dag, met zondag als rustdag. Zo had ik op die dag ook de tijd om wat van Phuket te zien, de plek waar ik verbleef.

This summer, I took on a new challenge to stay fit for the upcoming water polo season. So, something a little different from water polo! 🥊🇹🇭

I flew to Thailand for a real Muay Thai experience with PLUG OUT WORLD 🌍

That meant 2–3 training sessions a day, with Sunday as a rest day. This also gave me the opportunity to explore some of Phuket, where I was staying.

- 𝘌𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘩 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘸
Muay Thai is de Thaise vorm van kickboksen. Ik had nog nooit bokshandschoenen aangehad, maar het leek me een superleuke uitdaging om te ervaren hoe het is om te trainen bij een Thaise boksschool. Dat deed ik bij POWERHOUSE PHUKET ⚡ 🥊

De trainingen waren ontzettend zwaar, vooral de eerste week. Niet alleen moest mijn lichaam wennen aan de intensiteit, maar ook aan het warme en vochtige klimaat. Tijdens sommige trainingen dacht ik echt: “Wat doe ik mezelf aan?” 😂🥵 Toch had ik vanaf dag één ontzettend veel zin om te trainen. Na iedere training voelde ik me supervoldaan en merkte ik dat ik steeds fitter en sterker werd. Juist dat gevoel maakte dat ik iedere training weer met veel plezier begon.

Uiteindelijk heb ik echt van iedere training genoten en vond ik het zó leuk dat ik nu al weet: dit smaakt naar meer! 🥊🇹🇭 Wie weet sta ik volgende zomer weer met mijn bokshandschoenen in Thailand.

Inmiddels ben ik weer terug en helemaal klaar voor het nieuwe seizoen 💚💙

Muay Thai is the Thai form of kickboxing. I had never put on boxing gloves before, but it seemed like a really fun challenge to experience what it’s like to train at a Thai boxing gym. I did that at POWERHOUSE PHUKET ⚡ 🥊

Deze zomer kreeg Boris de bijzondere kans om in de Verenigde Staten mee te trainen en wedstrijden te spelen voor CT Premier.

Hij kwam in actie tijdens toernooien in Dallas, Los Angeles en de prestigieuze Junior Olympics, waar zijn team als 23e geplaatst was en uiteindelijk knap als 8e eindigde in de Silver Division.

Een zomer vol nieuwe ervaringen, internationale wedstrijden en waardevolle herinneringen. Op de volgende slide vertelt Boris zelf hoe hij deze bijzondere periode heeft beleefd. 💙💚

This summer, Boris had the unique opportunity to train and compete in the United States with CT Premier.

He took part in tournaments in Dallas, Los Angeles, and the prestigious Junior Olympics, where his team was seeded 23rd and went on to finish an impressive 8th in the Silver Division.

A summer full of new experiences, international competition, and unforgettable memories. On the next slide, Boris reflects on this special experience in his own words. 💙💚

Ook Caitlin is met Jong Oranje op pad. Zij zit in Oeiras, Portugal voor het European U20 Water Polo Championship.

We wensen Caitlin en de rest van het team heel veel succes en zijn ontzettend trots dat zij De Zaan op het hoogste internationale jeugdniveau vertegenwoordigt! 💙🧡
