Last term, before we vacated, I had a session with the children where I taught them about "name calling "
Among other things, I taught them what name calling is and the effect.
Name-calling has to do with using someone's body parts to taunt them. Example would be calling someone on the big side as fatty/orobor/giant, etc
Or calling someone "big head" etc.
However, everyone of us looks like the way God has designed them to be, and it is for a purpose.
Effect of name calling.
ā¢affects the confidence of the one being called.
ā¢makes people around to look down on the person.
ā¢can cause the person to be withdrawn and can affect his academic output.
ā¢it can lead to fight and serious injury in more severe cases.
What parents, teachers, and lovers of children can do.
šLead by example, no name calling.
š Teach children to express how they feel concerning a situation or a person.
šTeach children to address the problem and not the person.
šGuide them in use of choice of words
šBe an example in words and deeds for your child.
šBuild your child's self-esteem regardless of how they are. The slim will be fat tomorrow, accidents do happen, etc.
šEncourage your child to display empathy to siblings and friends
šTeach emotions regulation and management.
Remind your child that we are made in the image and likeness of God. So we are special. It is not just our physical appearance that matters,it is the value and impact we make with our lives that count.
I hope this helps.

āYesterday, a mum told me⦠āIām tired, but I donāt even know how to rest anymore.āā
She wakes up early, sleeps late, pours into everyone⦠yet feels empty.
No break. No pause. No space to just be.
Now listen to this:
Dear mum, you were not created to run on empty.
This is why Moms Day Out was created.
A space for you to breathe, laugh, connect, and feel alive again.
