Criminal Hideouts Razed as Ibesikpo Asutan Chairman Strikes Hard on Insecurity

The Executive Chairman of Ibesikpo Asutan LGA, Rt. Hon. Evang. Edidiong Inyang, has led a major security crackdown that dismantled criminal camps in the Ikot Ekwere forest.

The joint operation, involving the Nigeria Police Force's VCRU, SWAT, Forest Guards, and other security agencies, followed weeks of intelligence gathering. Several suspects were arrested, while camps allegedly used by kidnappers, cultists, and armed robbers were destroyed.

The Chairman vowed to sustain the fight against crime, declaring that criminal elements would find no safe haven in Ibesikpo Asutan.

HAPPENING NOW‼️

Following the heavy rainfall that caused flooding in parts of Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State Government has begun an emergency desilting operation to clear blocked drainage channels across affected areas, including Abak Road, Nkemba Street, Ukana Offot, Ikot Ekpene Road, and the Osong Ama axis.

The operation is being coordinated by the Akwa Ibom State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) in collaboration with the Ministries of Works and Environment, as well as the Akwa Ibom State Environmental and Waste Management Agency.

“I was dropped because I was not Igbo at Rangers International.”

Super Eagles assistant captain and Paris FC star Moses Simon has opened up about one of the most painful experiences of his football journey.

While I believe situations like this do happen, it is important not to turn this into an ethnic debate. This is not unique to any one region or tribe. Football has always had coaches who favour players they know, trust, or share a connection with.

We have seen similar situations across Europe. Arsène Wenger built Arsenal around many French players, while Erik ten Hag brought several Dutch players to Manchester United during his time in charge. Managers often recruit players from their country, former clubs, or familiar football culture.

While situations like Moses Simon experienced is unfortunate and should be condemned. But it should not be used to fuel ethnic propaganda or create unnecessary division. Football should unite us, not divide us.

FLOOD REPORT: Mother Whose Child is Missing following Flood, Appeals for Urgent Help After Home Is Submerged in Uyo

A tragic incident unfolded on Tabernacle Street, off Ikot Ekpene Road, Uyo, following the heavy rainfall that caused severe flooding in the area.

Mrs. Blessing Idorenyin Friday and her three children were trapped after floodwater entered their home. As the water continued to rise, courageous young men in the neighbourhood stepped in to rescue her twin babies.

In a desperate effort to keep the infants alive before help arrived, Mrs. Blessing placed the twins inside a sack and hung them from the roof to keep them above the rising floodwater.

Mrs. Blessing is now appealing to kind-hearted Nigerians, especially the people of Akwa Ibom State and other well-meaning individuals, to come to her aid. She urgently needs support to secure safe accommodation for herself and her children as they try to recover from this heartbreaking tragedy.

She can be reached via 08141572754 or 09014387774.
