African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain Kalu Kalu has challenged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to publicly provide details of the primary and secondary schools he attended following the release of presidential candidates’ personal particulars and credentials by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the 2027 general election.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, August 3, 2026, Kalu questioned the educational information submitted by the President, arguing that Nigerians deserve a clearer account of his academic background.

The ADC chieftain said his concerns were based on details contained in the nomination documents submitted to INEC, which he claimed raised fresh questions about Tinubu’s educational history.

President Tinubu’s failure to include details of his primary and secondary school education in the educational qualifications section of his INEC documents has sparked renewed public discussion over his academic records.

President Bola Tinubu has named Yakubu Jang, son of former Plateau State Governor Jonah Jang, as Senior Special Assistant in the Office of the President.*
The appointment was announced on Saturday by Vice President Kashim Shettima during the 80th birthday celebration and autobiography launch of former Governor Jonah Jang in Jos, Plateau State. Speaking on behalf of President Tinubu, Shettima made the announcement before an audience of political leaders, government officials and other distinguished guests.

[8/2, 12:35 PM] My Number: Gunmen have reportedly invaded St. Joseph Catholic Church, Inoyi, in Affa, Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, abducting a seminarian and at least one worshipper during a church service on Sunday morning.
[8/2, 12:39 PM] My Number: The incident was disclosed in a Facebook post by popular social media influencer, Sen Chijinkem Ugwuanyi, who said the attackers stormed the church and kidnapped a seminarian who had come to celebrate Mass, a catechist and another worshipper.

According to him, the kidnappers later released the catechist but took the seminarian and the other victim into captivity.

Ugwuanyi added that local youths had launched a search operation in nearby bushes but were exercising caution due to the alleged superior firepower of the kidnappers.

“The whole village is thrown into frenzy as the search continues,” he wrote, while calling on the government to intensify efforts to tackle rising insecurity in the area.

In a separate Facebook post, another user shared a video purportedly from the scene, alleging that kidnappers attacked St. Joseph Catholic Church, Inoyi, Affa, and appealed to the Enugu State Government to intervene.

As of the time of filing this report, the Enugu State Police Command had not issued an official statement on the incident

The Independent National Electoral Commission has published the personal particulars and credentials of the 19 presidential candidates and their running mates for the 2027 general election, paving the way for campaigns starting on August 19.

Publication of the candidates’ Form EC9 is a statutory requirement under Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act 2026, which mandates the commission to display the personal particulars of candidates after receiving their nomination forms.

The process allows members of the public and eligible persons to scrutinies the information submitted by candidates.
