The Chairman of Lobi Stars Football Club, Simon Terver Ikya, on behalf of the Management, Technical Crew, Players and Staff of the club, extends warm congratulations to the Executive Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Iormem Alia, on the memorable occasion of his 36th Priestly Ordination Anniversary.

Today is not only a celebration of the number of years spent in the priesthood but also a celebration of a life distinguished by sacrifice, compassion and an enduring commitment to the service of God and humanity.

For thirty-six years, Your Excellency has remained steadfast in answering the divine call, dedicating your life to spreading the Gospel, restoring hope to the hopeless, strengthening the weak, reconciling broken relationships and standing as a voice of encouragement to countless people. Your priestly ministry liberated many from despair, rekindled faith in troubled hearts and nurtured generations with sound moral and spiritual guidance. Those years of selfless service built an enduring bond of trust and affection between you and the people.

Your emergence as the Governor of Benue State was, in many respects, a natural progression of that remarkable journey of service. It reflected the confidence and goodwill of a people whose lives had been positively influenced by your ministry and whose prayers accompanied you into public office. Today, those prayers continue to rise, joined by many more citizens across the state, asking God to preserve you, enlarge your capacity for service and grant you greater accomplishments in every assignment entrusted to your care.

The sports family in Benue State remains deeply appreciative of your administration's positive disposition towards sports development. Under your leadership, the sector has witnessed renewed attention through the consistent payment of salaries to sports personnel, the upgrading of McCarthy Stadium into a more conducive venue for sporting activities, and the ongoing comprehensive reconstruction of the Aper Aku Sporting Complex, a project that promises to restore one of the state's most treasured sporting landmarks.

Lobi Stars Football Club has equally benefited from your administration's continued support. Your approval of funds for the club's operational activities has enabled Management to sustain its programmes while providing the necessary platform for the team to pursue its objectives. Such support demonstrates your appreciation of football as a powerful instrument for youth empowerment, social cohesion and the promotion of Benue State on the national stage.

Beyond sports, your administration has continued to make meaningful progress in road infrastructure, the revival of previously inactive industries, the establishment of new industries, the prompt payment of workers' salaries and pensions, and the strengthening of security through practical and coordinated measures. These interventions continue to improve livelihoods and reinforce public confidence in the future of Benue State.

In football, every successful team is built on vision, sound leadership, careful planning and the ability to inspire confidence within the dressing room. These qualities remain essential to achieving lasting success, and they equally define purposeful leadership in public service. Your administration has continued to demonstrate these attributes, giving the people renewed optimism for greater achievements ahead.

As you celebrate this significant milestone in your priestly journey, we pray that Almighty God, who has sustained you over the past thirty-six years, will continue to grant you abundant grace, wisdom, sound health and divine protection. May He strengthen your hands for greater service, crown your efforts with even greater accomplishments and continue to guide every decision for the peace, unity and prosperity of Benue State.

It is our earnest prayer that the goodwill, affection and prayers that have followed you from the altar into public service will continue to multiply, and that God will grant you success in every worthy aspiration, including your desire to continue serving the good people of Benue State.

Chairman of Lobi Stars Football Club, Simon Terver Ikya on Saturday, 4th July, 2026 attended the birthday ceremony of Coach Philip Abumere, a respected member of the Nigeria Football Coaches Association (NFCA), Benue State Chapter, in an event that brought together members of the football fraternity in celebration of one of their own.

Beyond celebrating the occasion, Simon Ikya reinforced his commitment to the growth of the coaching profession by formally declaring his enlistment into the Benue State Chapter of the Nigeria Football Coaches Association. He also announced that Lobi Stars' newly appointed Head Coach from the FCT Chapter, would soon be officially presented to the association to be registered as a member.

Demonstrating his readiness to play an active role within the body, the Lobi Stars chairman requested that his membership dues be computed from January to date for immediate payment.

Responding on behalf of the association, the Benue State Chapter Chairman, Coach Eugene Agagbe, who also serves as Head Coach of Barau FC, commended Simon Ikya for identifying with the coaches' body and pledged the association's full backing for his administration at Lobi Stars.

Agagbe expressed confidence in the chairman's leadership, stating that the coaches believe he possesses the vision and capacity to return the Pride of Benue to its place among Nigeria's leading football clubs. He added that the association would continue to make its technical expertise and professional experience available in support of the club's rebuilding process.

The gathering ended on a positive note, with goodwill, football discourse and a shared belief that stronger collaboration between club management and the coaching community will provide a solid platform for Lobi Stars to compete at the level befitting one of Nigeria's most respected football institutions.

Lobi Stars Football Club of Makurdi has officially ushered in a new chapter in its football journey with the unveiling of Coach Bala Nikyu as the new Head Coach of the Pride of Benue.

The event, which was held at the McCarthy Stadium, Makurdi, on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 brought together the club’s management, technical crew, players, staff and members of the media as the club unveiled a new football architect entrusted with the responsibility of guiding Lobi Stars back to the Nigeria Premier Football League.

In his speech, Chairman of Lobi Stars Football Club, Simon Terver Ikya, described the occasion as more than a mere unveiling, but a defining moment that signals a renewed direction and collective commitment towards achieving the club’s ambitions.

Presenting Coach Nikyu, Ikya highlighted his wealth of experience and deep understanding of Nigerian football, urging players and staff to give the new gaffer maximum support.

He appreciated the contributions and support of the Executive Governor of Benue State, Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia, assuring that Lobi Stars under his leadership will continue to justify the confidence of the government and people of Benue State.

Coach Bala Nikyu, who in his last appointment guided Nasarawa United back to the Nigeria Premier Football League in the 2023/2024 season, brings over a decade of CAF A Licence experience and vast technical knowledge to the Pride of Benue.

Speaking after his unveiling, Coach Nikyu expressed his full commitment to the assignment, promising to build a positive legacy in Benue while working towards returning Lobi Stars to the top flight. He said the focus would be on hard work, discipline and on field results.

During the media interaction, the coach maintained that his football strategies would speak through performance, while Chairman Ikya revealed that seventeen players have been retained, with more additions expected to strengthen the squad.

Ikya charged everyone connected with the club to rise to the occasion, stressing that the target remains promotion back to the Nigeria Premier Football League.

The club’s Secretary, Terzungwe Chugh, in his closing remarks appreciated the efforts of the coaching crew and backroom staff, urging the new technical team to work together and ensure the Pride of Benue regains its place among Nigeria’s football elite.

The highlight of the ceremony was the official unveiling and contract signing between Coach Bala and Lobi Stars, conducted by Chairman Simon Terver Ikya, followed by the introduction of the new coach to the players, management and staff of the club.

The management of Lobi Stars Football Club has adjusted the resumption timetable of the team ahead of the new football calendar, moving the initial date of June 22, 2026, to June 29, 2026.

With this development, players are expected to return to town on Sunday, June 28, with full training activities scheduled to begin on Monday, June 29 as the Pride of Benue continues preparations for the challenges ahead.

Meanwhile, the Local Organising Committee of the Lobi Stars U-19 Talent Hunt 2026 has submitted its report to the club’s management following a successful scouting exercise conducted across different clubs.

The committee’s report revealed that 72 promising players were shortlisted from 24 clubs, setting the stage for the next phase of the selection process aimed at identifying the finest talents capable of strengthening the future of the club.

Receiving the report on Friday, June 19, 2026, the Chairman of Lobi Stars Football Club, Simon Terver Ikya, commended the committee for the diligence with which the work was carried out and the level of commitment shown throughout the exercise.

The chairman further directed that the list of selected players should be officially communicated to their respective Academies and Youth Clubs, while assuring that the date for the final screening, where the best talents will emerge from the shortlisted group, will be announced shortly.

Lobi Stars Football Club has received a major facility boost as the Hydro Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPADEC) begins the installation of a solar-powered industrial borehole at the McCarthy Stadium, Makurdi.

The project followed a request by Lobi Stars Chairman, Simon Terver Ikya, to the HYPADEC State Office, which received approval through the State Coordinator, Lee Ahenjir, who facilitated the process.

The drilling equipment has been fully mobilized to the stadium, with work currently ongoing on the project that is set to provide a lasting water solution for the home ground of the Pride of Benue.

The intervention marks another positive development off the pitch, strengthening the infrastructure base of Lobi Stars as the club continues its pursuit of greater standards in Nigerian football.
