Teams MTN’s Lucy Nwankwo has been named as part of the Nigerian Team for the World Athletics U20 Championships, commencing next week in Oregon, USA.
Last month in Dakar, at the CAA U18/U20 Region II Championships, Nwankwo won Two GOLD medals 🥇🥇 for Nigeria in the U20 100m and 200m - a performance that earned her selection for the World U20 Championships.

First time at the Commonwealth Games, and she started with a victory 👏
Miracle Ezechukwu couldn’t have asked for a better start to her Commonwealth Games debut.
The Nigerian athlete won her women’s 100m heat, clocking 11.32s (-1.5) from Lane 8 to automatically advance into the semifinals.
Best wishes in the next round, Miracle.
She called it at MTN CHAMPS Jos.
After clocking 11.26s at MTN CHAMPS Jos in April, Miracle Ezechukwu shared in her post-race interview that her biggest goal for this season is to represent Nigeria at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The U20 Women’s 100m Final at MTN CHAMPS Season 4 Grand Final in Ibadan remains one of the most exciting sprint finals of the season.
It was a fiercely contested race that ended with Ejiro Peter taking the title 🥇 in 11.39s, ahead of Chigozie Rosemary 🥈(11.48s) and Lucy Nwankwo🥉 (11.57s).
All the athletes in this race ran under 12s, highlighting the incredible depth of talent that was on display.
A performance that earned him several cheers 👏
Miracle Odi had the whole stadium cheering for him at the MTN CHAMPS Season 4 Grand Final in Ibadan, after he crossed the line first, leaving a big gap between him and his contender.
Odi clocked 1:00.64s, which was the fastest qualifying time in the Cadet (U14) Boys’ 400m event.
Nigeria’s next generation of athletics stars is emerging, and MTN CHAMPS is where many of those stories begin.

TWO Championship Titles 🥇🥇 and TWO PBs! That’s how you make your mark 🫡
Lucy Nwankwo 🇳🇬 completed the sprint double at the CAA Region II U18/U20 Championships in Dakar, Senegal, claiming her second GOLD medal of the Championships in the U20 Women’s 200m.
The Team MTN Athlete stormed to victory in a huge Personal Best of 23.46s (unofficial), adding the 200m title to the 100m GOLD she won on Day 1 with a PB of 11.40s.

Her 1st GOLD Medal 🥇for Nigeria at the CAA Region II U18/U20 Championships in Dakar, Senegal. So proud 🥹👏
On Day 1 of the Championships, Lucy Nwankwo 🇳🇬 clocked a Personal Best of 11.40s to claim the U20 Women’s 100m title.
She’ll be competing in the 200m later this evening and will be looking to claim her second individual medal for Nigeria.
