EUROMATCH NPFL 27': NASARAWA UNITED BOUNCE BACK WITH HARD-FOUGHT VICTORY OVER BENDEL INSURANCE ON MATCH-DAY TWO.

The Solid Miners responded emphatically to last weekend's 3-1 away setback to Barau FC in Kano, securing a gritty 1-0 win in today's Euromatch Nigeria Premier Football League match-day two fixture against a formidable visiting Bendel Insurance before a roaring home fans at the Lafia City Stadium.
In a highly-contested encounter defined by discipline and resolve, Nasarawa United delivered a composed performance, with Sam Pam credited for the goal in the 55th minute after heading the ball into an empty net following some goal area scrambles, to help the Solid Miners claim all three points and get their 2026/27 Euromatch NPFL campaign back on track.
The atmosphere at the Lafia City Stadium was further lifted by the presence of the State's Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe, who led a large State delegation to the stadium, including the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Hon. Isaac Danladi; Commissioner for Works, Infrastructure and Transport, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu; Commissioner for Health, Dr. Gaza Gwamna; Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr. Nawani Aboki; Commissioner for Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Mu'azu Maifata; Commissioner for Women's Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Rebecca Adamu Kpaji; Secretary to the State Government, Labaran Shuaibu Magaji SAN; Aides to Governor Abdullahi Sule; Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the State, Yarius Dagusa mni; and Executive Chairman of Doma Local Government Area, Hon. Jonathan Okuba.
The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Jibril Abdullahi Ibrahim FCNA, joined by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Stephen Iliya Sasetu; Club's Chairman, Solomon Babanjah, and his Board, alongside Chairman of the State Football Association, Salisu Usman Galadima, received the Deputy Governor and his entourage.
Their support galvanized the players and officials of the Club, who repaid the faith with a deserved victory.
Today's result, which moves United to the 9th position on the 20-team campaign table with three points, same with Bendel Insurance who are 8th placed, offers an early statement of intent from Nasarawa United as they look to build momentum in the weeks ahead, especially in their next game against the league's defending champions, Rangers International FC of Enugu.

COACH MANGUT MBWAS (NAS): "Yeah, it's a difficult game for us. It's our second game of the season, and I can boldly say we are improving game-in, game-out.
"Somehow, my wards seemed to want to please the fans without circulating or playing according to our instructions, which exposed us to some kind of mistakes.
"We are, however, still very fresh, mixing experience with youthfulness, and I do know we will get better as we progress in this campaign.
"The league is fresh, we are going to work harder and smarter as we prepare for our next game against Rangers International FC in Abeokuta, hoping to get a descent result there."
SAM PAM(GOALSCORER/NAS): "Thank God for today's victory. It wasn't an easy game after losing 3-1 in Kano to Barau FC.
"Our supporters and fans were anxious to see us win today, including the Governor, and we did our best, and to God be the glory, we got the victory.
"I am glad to score the winning goal today. I thank God and my teammates who contributed to that. It's our first game at home, and the goal is a huge motivation for me to keep working hard till the end of the season."
COACH JOLOMI ALI(INSUR.): "It's really unlucky for us not to get something positive out of this ground, especially after many games here.
"We created a lot of chances, but couldn't convert any.
