*COMEBACK KINGS: CHELLE'S SUPER EAGLES STUN MADAGASCAR 2-1 TO SEIZE TOP SPOT*

The Super Eagles of Nigeria, led by Head Coach Éric Sékou Chelle, staged a remarkable comeback to secure maximum points in their 2027 AFCON qualifying opener in Uyo.

It was a difficult start for the Franco-Malian tactician's side as Madagascar drew first blood, scoring against the run of play.

Nigeria had to wait until the 45th minute to restore parity, with newly-invited George Ilenikhena finding the back of the net to level matters before the halftime whistle.

Both teams returned for the second half with renewed determination. It took tactical brilliance from Coach Chelle, who introduced fresh legs and altered the formation, to turn the tide.

The decisive second goal, which gave the Super Eagles the edge, was delivered by debutant Akor Adams, sealing a crucial 2-1 victory.

Reacting to the triumph, Coach Chelle expressed satisfaction with his boys' resilience and fighting spirit, describing their character as the key factor behind the victory.

The 2-1 result puts Nigeria top of Group L as they shift focus to their next qualifying fixture against Guinea-Bissau on Tuesday.
