DAY 3 GATHERING OF CHAMPIONS'26
THE WORD
GATHERING OF CHAMPIONS 2026
THEME: RAISING KINGDOM CHAMPIONS
TEXT: 1 Samuel 22:1-2; 2 Samuel 23:8-39
INTRODUCTION:
One of the greatest tragedies in ministry is building a congregation without building people.
God's strategy has never been to gather crowds; His strategy is to raise champions.
A crowd admires. A champion advances the vision.
A crowd consumes. A champion contributes.
A crowd watches. A champion works.
As Eternal Crown Assembly begins this journey, our desire is not merely to fill seats but to raise men and women who will carry kingdom responsibilities, serve faithfully, lead effectively, and impact their generation for Christ.
When God wanted to establish a kingdom through David, He did not first give him a palace. He gave him people.
When David arrived at the Cave of Adullam, he was not surrounded by mighty men. He was surrounded by broken men.
1 Samuel 22:2 says:
"And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him..."
Yet years later, these same men became David's mighty men.
This is the miracle of kingdom leadership.
God specializes in transforming ordinary people into extraordinary vessels.
STEPS TO RAISING KINGDOM CHAMPIONS
1. GOD BUILDS CHAMPIONS, NOT CELEBRITIES
When the 400 men came to David, they were:
1.Discontented
2. In debt
3. In distress
4. They had problems.
5. They had weaknesses.
6. They had failures.
Yet David saw beyond their condition.
The world focuses on what people are.
God focuses on what they can become.
Many people would have rejected those men.
David received them.
What others saw as liabilities, David saw as possibilities.
The church must learn this lesson.
The future leader may currently be struggling.
The future choir director may currently be timid.
The future pastor may currently be unnoticed.
The future kingdom financier may currently be in debt.
God sees champions where men see problems.
2. CHAMPIONS ARE MADE THROUGH DISCIPLESHIP
The Cave of Adullam became a training ground.
1. David taught them
2. Led them.
3.Correctedem.
4.Developed them.
5. Inspired them.
Champions are not produced accidentally.
They are developed intentionally.
Example of our master Jesus
Jesus spent three years developing twelve men.
David spent years developing four hundred men.
A church that wants champions must commit itself to discipleship.
People must be taught.
People must be trained.
People must be trusted.
People must be developed.
The goal of ministry is not attendance.
The goal of ministry is transformation.
3. CHAMPIONS EMBRACE RESPONSIBILITY
When we read about David's mighty men in 2 Samuel 23, we discover something remarkable.
One man fought until his hand clung to his sword.
Another defended a field when others fled.
Others risked their lives for their king.
They were no longer consumers.
They had become contributors.
Kingdom champions do not ask:
"What can the church do for me?"
They ask:
"What can I do for God's kingdom?"
The future of every ministry depends on people who embrace responsibility.
People who can be counted upon.
People who serve faithfully.
People who carry burdens willingly.
People who solve problems instead of creating them.
4. CHAMPIONS ARE LOYAL TO THE VISION
David's men believed in David's assignment.
His vision became their vision.
His battle became their battle.
His success became their success.
One reason many people never become champions is because they never commit to anything long enough.
Champions understand covenant.
Champions understand loyalty.
Champions understand vision.
They do not serve only when convenient.
They do not serve only when noticed.
They remain committed because they believe in the mission.
5. CHAMPIONS ARE RAISED FOR IMPACT
The purpose of raising champions is not to make people important.
It is to make them impactful.
God raises champions to:
a. Advance His kingdom.
b. Transform community
c Lead organizations.
d. Influence culture.
e. Carry revival.
As a church, our dream is bigger than Sunday services.
We desire to raise kingdom champions in every sphere of life:
Champions in ministry.
Champions in business.
Champions in education.
Champions in government.
Champions in media.
Champions in family life.
Champions who will carry the values of Christ wherever they go.
CONCLUSION:
David's greatest achievement was not killing Goliath.
His greatest achievement was raising mighty men.
When David met them, they were distressed, indebted, and discontented.
When Scripture finished their story, they were called mighty men.
That is the power of vision.
That is the power of leadership.
That is the power of discipleship.
And that is the vision of Eternal Crown Assembly.
We may be a young church.
We may not have large numbers.
But if God helps us raise champions, the impact of this ministry will be felt for generations.
Our prayer is that everyone connected to this house will grow from being a spectator to becoming a servant, from being a member to becoming a minister, and from being a follower to becoming a kingdom champion.
