Success Oyibu ends the night with a 5th place finish in the women’s 200m final.

She clocked 23.27s at the champs.

Tejiri Godwin, Chigozie Nwankwo. Perfect Faye and Oluebube Ezechukwu finished 4th in the mixed 4x100m further lowering their national and African record of 41.77s.

The women's 4x400m quartet of Becky Eyibadi, Jecinta Lawrence, Tejiri Ugoh and Faith Ezechukwu got the baton round in 3rd place getting an automatic qualification to the final in 3:35.28s.

Quite an uneventful day?

A 7th place finish and a final entrant for the team on day three of the World Athletics U20 Championships.

The most unexpected came in the 200m which had one of the medal prospect for the team getting a disqualification due to lane infringement. A decision that was likely protested by the federation to reinstate Oluebube Ezechukwu after running a best of 22.61s in her heat as the 2nd fastest heading to the final.

Pending the result of the protest challenge, Success Oyibu will only be the Nigerian in the 200m final after winning her heat in 23.13(0.3).

Oluebube Ezechukwu who came 2nd in a pb of 22.61(0.5) was disqualified for lane infringement.
