The Atalanta midfielder is currently in England for his second, more thorough medical with Manchester United. This is the final hurdle — and it’s not a formality.

The Big Red Flag is the Meniscus Injury Ederson suffered a meniscus injury in the 2025/26 season (late August to late September), which kept him out for around a month and multiple games.

Meniscus issues are a classic concern for clubs because they can signal long-term knee problems, especially under the physical demands and high-intensity schedule of the Premier League.

United’s medical team will be scrutinising the knee closely for any lingering weakness, scar tissue, or future risk. This is likely why they insisted on a full second medical in England after the initial basic check in the US during the World Cup.
