HOW TO LIVE PURE IN A S*X- SATURATED SOCIETY// BIBLICAL STRATEGIES// IDENTITY IN CHRIST
To achieve a lasting victory over sexual sin, you don’t just need more will power, or more counselling, or new strategies or even behavior modification or management. What you need is new identity.
But the problem is that many believers, hide their new identity. They are ashamed to be identified as believers therefore they continue to live their lives from their old nature and not from their new nature in Christ.
The bible said in II Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old has passed away; behold the new is come”. Until you identify and begin to live your life from your new identity in Christ, you may continue to struggle with things.
Sexual purity is not lived or sustained by rules or willpower alone, rather it flows from your new identity in Christ. And when you truly understand who you are in Christ and begin to live from that revelation, temptation loses much of its power on you.
Please understand that your new identity does not eliminate your sexual desires, rather it redirects to things like:
1. Intimacy with God
2. Transformation by the renewing of the mind
3. Divine calling (Purpose)
4. Spiritual growth
As you begin to live from your new identity and to mature in Christ, you begin to experience a shift in your desire. You begin to develop new appetites. You stop asking ‘how do I avoid sin today’ and you start asking ‘how do I please God today’.
