The National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP), alongside partners, joined the Nation First Foundation (NFF) for a community outreach in Wumba Community, Apo, FCT, to strengthen malaria prevention and awareness.
Residents received malaria sensitization, free malaria Rapid Diagnostic Tests (RDTs) for people who had fever, treatment for confirmed cases, and demonstrations on the correct use of insecticide-treated nets (ITNs).
Together, we continue to empower communities with the knowledge and tools needed to prevent malaria and save lives.

The National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP), with support from the World Bank IMPACT Project and the GiveWell Foundation through its sub-recipient, Malaria Consortium, has commenced preparations for the Insecticide-Treated Net (ITN) Mass Distribution Campaign across Abia, Borno, FCT, and Kogi States to strengthen malaria prevention and protect millions of Nigerians.
The national-state engagement brings together key stakeholders—including Honourable Commissioners of Health, Directors of Public Health, State Malaria Programme Managers, IVM Officers, and Executive Secretaries of State Primary Health Care Development Agencies—to align strategies, strengthen coordination, and ensure the successful delivery of the campaign.

The 2026 Jigawa State Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) State Training of Trainers has commenced in Dutse, bringing together key Facilitators to strengthen the capacity required for effective campaign implementation.
The workshop is equipping participants with the technical, supervisory, communication, and digital skills needed to deliver high-quality, safe, and accountable SMC services across the state.
By building a competent pool of trainers who will cascade this knowledge to frontline implementers, the training is laying the foundation for a successful campaign that will protect more eligible children from malaria and improve programme quality.

Nigeria has recorded another major milestone in malaria diagnosis as Mr. Babajide Bamiro emerged Overall Best Participant at the 2026 WHO Malaria Microscopy Facilitators' Re-certification Course held in Nairobi, Kenya.
Competing alongside Level 1 WHO Facilitators from Australia, Kenya, Mali, the Philippines, Senegal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand, he topped the class—showcasing Nigeria's commitment to excellence in malaria microscopy, quality diagnosis, and malaria elimination.
Congratulations to Team Nigeria! Together, we're strengthening the fight to end malaria.

After an intensive week of collaboration and strategic planning, the Affordable Diagnostic Medicines Facility for Malaria (ADMFm) Technical Workshop has come to a successful close.
From strengthening policy and governance to designing sustainable financing, pricing mechanisms, supply chain systems, strategic communications, and implementation frameworks, stakeholders worked tirelessly to build a bold, practical roadmap that will transform access to quality malaria diagnosis and treatment in Nigeria.
Together, we are laying the foundation for a healthier Nigeria where affordable, quality-assured malaria diagnostics and medicines are within everyone's reach.
