Jarvis Kaplan Tournament – Final Day Update from Mossel Bay

The final day has arrived here in Mossel Bay, and our Jarvis team is ready for one last battle at the annual Jarvis Kaplan Tournament.

Yesterday brought a thrilling encounter against SACD C, with both teams showing the true spirit of competitive squash. Although the final score went in favour of SACD C (15/11), the match was filled with quality squash, determination, and some incredible rallies.

Danie Greeff – won 3/1
Francois Hanekom (Junior) – won 3/0
Christof Knoetze – lost 3/1
Le-Hugo van Rooyen – lost 3/2
Arno Diekmann – lost 3/2

A special mention must go to Le-Hugo and Arno, who both took their matches into the fifth game. The margins were incredibly small, and both players fought for every single point in matches that could easily have gone either way. These are the moments that make team squash so exciting to watch.

The team now faces Western Province C today at 12:00 in their final fixture. With the standings still wide open, there is everything to play for, and the team can still finish in 2nd, 3rd, or 4th position.

We are extremely proud of the way our players have represented Namibia, showing commitment, fighting spirit, and true sportsmanship throughout the tournament.

JARVIS KAPLAN TOURNAMENT UPDATE – MOSSSEL BAY

What a battle! 💪

Our Namibian Jarvis team continues to fly the Namibian flag high at the annual Jarvis Kaplan Tournament in Mossel Bay, South Africa.

Yesterday, the boys faced one of the toughest teams in the competition, Northerns, in an encounter that went right down to the wire.

Although the result didn't fall our way, every single player left everything on the court and showcased the determination, fighting spirit and sportsmanship that Namibia is so proud of.

Road to Jarvis – Thank You, Ruan Olivier!

This past weekend, members of our National Squash Team had the privilege of working alongside South African squash coach and player, Ruan Olivier, co-founder and Head Coach of Nu Ag Academy.

Ruan has been an integral part of our team's preparation for the 2026 Growthpoint Jarvis/Kaplan Tournament. Earlier this year, in February, he developed a comprehensive "Road to Jarvis" training programme for our national squad, which the players have diligently followed over the past several months. His recent visit to Namibia provided an opportunity to assess the team's progress, fine-tune key areas of their game, and add the final touches as we approach the tournament.

Ruan brings a wealth of experience to the court. A former South African national team representative, Growthpoint SA Nationals finalist, and professional PSA player, he has dedicated his career not only to competing at a high level but also to developing the next generation of squash players through Nu Ag Academy.

On behalf of the Namibian Squash Association, our players, coaches, and supporters, we would like to express our sincere appreciation to Ruan for his commitment, time, and expertise. The players thoroughly enjoyed the sessions and benefited immensely from his knowledge, professionalism, and passion for the sport. Our team captain, Le-Hugo van Rooyen, also had the opportunity to work closely with Ruan during the visit, gaining valuable insights and leadership guidance as the team enters the final phase of its preparation for Jarvis.

The race for the title is heating up after four weeks of exciting squash action!

This week saw MPlus Pharmacy strengthen their position at the top of the table, increasing their lead from 29 to 38 points. However, the battle behind them remains incredibly tight, with Visions Consulting and Zebra Trailers locked together on 36 points, just two points off the lead.

Fusion Five continues to keep the pressure on the front-runners, moving to 34 points, while Portmut Eco Safaris remains firmly in contention with 31 points.

Further down the table, FabuPharm and Power Line Africa continue to battle hard for valuable points each week, while Cajaka Furniture has strengthened its position in the middle of the standings as the competition progresses.
