Meet Holger, our RVS Chairperson — part of the club since 2008, keeping the team moving, the shows happening and somehow still maintaining his enthusiasm after all these years.

He’s here for the teamwork, the competition, the friends… and, naturally, a little socialising at the Reiterbar. 🍺😉

And after everything that comes with being Chairman, he still proudly says:

But awards like these represent far more than what happens on competition day. They represent months and years of training, early mornings, difficult rounds, breakthroughs, horse care, coaching, travelling and simply continuing to show up.

To our riders — congratulations.
To our horses — thank you for everything you give us. ❤️
And to the coaches, grooms, parents, families, owners, sponsors and supporters behind these combinations — these achievements belong to the village behind them too.

𝗚𝗖𝗪 𝗡𝗔𝗠𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗠𝗣𝗦 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 | 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗔 𝗪𝗘𝗘𝗞𝗘𝗡𝗗

The RVS girls certainly made their trip to Windhoek count at the 𝗚𝗖𝗪 𝗡𝗮𝗺𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘀 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 25–27 September. From Dressage to Showjumping, we came home with fantastic results, class wins, placings and some very special Championship titles. ❤️

But first, a HUGE thank you to 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗻 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, the main event sponsor of the Namibian Showjumping Championships. Your support of Namibian equestrian sport, its riders and its future is enormously appreciated.

🌟 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗺𝗲𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 — 1st in Third Level Test 2 with a score of 64.08% with 𝗛𝗲𝗶𝗱𝗶’𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱 𝗠𝗼𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗵𝗼, plus two further 2nd-ranked dressage performances, with scores of 64.81% & 68.95% and 2nd in the 1.10m Speed with 𝗧𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁’𝘀 𝗘𝘁𝗼𝘀𝗵𝗮.

🌟 𝗘𝗺𝗸𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗲𝘁𝘇𝗲𝗲 & 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘆𝘀 — clear in the 1.00m Two Rounds & 2nd in the 1.00m Speed.

And behind every one of these results is a whole team. ❤

To our 𝗚𝗥𝗢𝗢𝗠𝗦 — thank you for everything that happens before and after anyone enters the arena: the early mornings, feeding, grooming, tacking up, cooling down and the constant care of our precious horses. 🐴

And to our 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦 & 𝗙𝗔𝗠𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗘𝗦 — the chauffeurs, financiers, horsebox drivers, photographers, videographers, snack suppliers, pep-talkers and biggest cheerleaders 😂❤️ thank you for making these dreams possible.

Because although only 𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗛𝗢𝗥𝗦𝗘 & 𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗥𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗥 enter the arena, there is usually 𝗔 𝗪𝗛𝗢𝗟𝗘 𝗩𝗜𝗟𝗟𝗔𝗚𝗘 standing just outside it. ❤️

𝗧𝗛𝗥𝗢𝗪𝗕𝗔𝗖𝗞 𝗧𝗛𝗨𝗥𝗦𝗗𝗔𝗬 | 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗥𝗢𝗔𝗗 𝗧𝗢 𝟳𝟬

This week we're going back to the day Reiterverein Swakopmund officially began.

📅 20 February 1970

On that day, RVS was founded at the Hotel Bismarck in Swakopmund by Harald Voigts, Erhard Moldzio and Dr. F. W. von Ludwiger.

And here's another little piece of RVS history…

Before the grounds we know today were developed, Swakopmund's popular riding tournaments were held on the sports field below Café Anton. Eventually, land next to the SPCA was acquired and the stables, paddocks and riding facilities that became the home of RVS developed over the years.

From those early beginnings to the club we know today, quite a lot of hoofprints have been left along the way. ❤️

We asked Siggi to answer our Meet the Committee questionnaire.

We asked again.

And again.

Eventually, when a grown man ignores the questionnaire long enough… you ask his mother. 😂

Thankfully, his mother happens to be Doris, who could provide us with approximately four decades of evidence.

So, with a little help from Doris and some unsolicited character references from the rest of the committee — we present: Siggi.

Meet our calm, collected, always-smiling technical expert, innovative-idea supplier, time-machine operator and much-needed male reinforcement for Holger amongst all the girls.

His RVS story goes all the way back to 1987, when he started riding at around eight years old, got his first horse Kim and competed successfully in Children’s classes. After a rather extended intermission from horses, he eventually found his way back to RVS.

These days, Siggi takes a wonderfully relaxed approach to equestrian life. Rules? Regulations? Stressing about show day? … everyone just calm down. 😂

He may occasionally be racing the clock to make his own class, but apparently there is no situation so urgent that we can’t all relax a little.

According to the committee, he’s the calm one, the innovative thinker, the technical expert who’s always a phone call away and the guy who keeps smiling even when he absolutely does NOT agree with us.

And since he didn’t answer his three-word question either, naturally we’ve taken care of that too:
