So grateful for the opportunity I have to serve my community.

Golfers come in all shapes and sizes. Old and young. Always young at heart.

Different body types, strengths, levels of flexibility, physical abilities, desires and aspirations.

No 2 people are exactly the same. No situation in life is ever the same.

What binds us all together as golfers and people are shared passions.

Yet our experiences though similar at times are unique and special.

At Golf Haven you are treated as an individual. Your golf clubs are adjusted and ideally built to suit your unique requirements.

Height, strength, clubhead speed, your ability to load the golf shaft, achieve center strikes, ball speed and consistency all point to what clubs may fit you best.

That is just a direction, but the experience, expertise and the thoroughness of the evaluation of not just your ability, but also the state of your current equipment play a pivotal role in the adjustments that would be made to your equipment. The goal is to get you to the point where your equipment enhances your ability to play better golf not negatively impact your ability to hit the ball consistently.

The ultimate goal is to turn you into a better you, taking what is natural and guiding you through a process of maximising your ability to hit the golf ball more consistently.

No 2 successful professional golfer's swings look exactly the same, why do many instructors often insist on modelling golfers to a specific pattern or system?

What works for one person may not work for someone else, however there are certain fundamentals that can be applied to most golfers to guide them to become better golfers, whilst still respecting and understanding their unique requirements and abilities.

Today I celebrate my 58th birthday.

A day I look forward to celebrate with my loved ones.

I pray that God blesses all my friends and family near and far.

My wish is that God will bless all those whom I love with much love, joy, peace and good health.

I am blessed beyond measure, yesterday my student Vikasni and her Mother Mrs Bala surprised me with a birthday cake and we were joined by my friend Ken who sang happy birthday to me.

Later my client who came by to collect his driver joined us in enjoying the beautiful cake Vika had chosen for me.

I later had the rest of the cake with Lyndon, Grandma Belinda and the helper.

God is good and I am blessed to see yet another day. Looking forward to celebrating this day with those who love me and also spend time with my clients.

I look forward to the year ahead knowing that God has only good plans for me. To give me hope and a future.

To all my family, friends and clients I love and appreciate all of you.

2 weeks ago I attended a level 1 Rules Seminar and successfully completed the exam. This is part of my continued education to better serve my clients and the golfing community at large.

The level 2 seminar and exam should be held later this year. It is definitely something I am keen to complete.

Thank you to the wonderful and knowledgeable instructors from the MGA and our generous host club RSGC who made the day an unforgettable experience.

13 years since starting Golf Haven. Still have to pinch myself that a boy born in Cape Town under Apartheid in 1968 could one day own a golf academy and clubmaking centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

I feel totally blessed to have the opportunity to share my love and passion for this great game by sharing my knowledge of the golf swing, putting, chipping, pitching, and the importance of being properly fitted for one's equipment to my clients.

I feel honoured and grateful to my clients many of whom have won multiple tournaments and been able to represent their clubs, states at school and junior levels, some have gone on to play college golf in the USA, others have won Club Championships. Others have represented Malaysia.

Still today I am grateful for the opportunity to serve my clients and help them to achieve their individual goals, whether it be to break 100 or to shoot level par and win a tournament.

We all have our own benchmarks, but one thing is common our love for a game that can be played by different individuals with varying abilities, body structures, builds, strength and ambitions.

At Golf Haven you are an important and unique individual who is treated as such. Not a clone or a project to be turned into the next Tiger Woods or Anika Sorenstam.

Lessons are taylored to suit your individual ability and learning style.

For that communication is key. Often hearing what the student perceives gives me a clear understanding of how to address them with clear instructions and get them to own their own swings eventually.

Today I had a new client come in. He went from hitting his 9 iron below 90 meters hitting an average of 114 meters within minutes.

What we focussed on was the setup, posture, height and distance from the ball and his grip.

The results were fantastic.

His clubhead speed went from mid 60's mph to 73 mph on average.

His accuracy also improved dramatically.

Super proud of the effort he has made. Glad to help another golfer move towards their potential without over-complicating the process with technicalities.

GONG XI FA CAI!

Today I got to play with one of my favourite people in the world.

Uncle Tom as I call him is in his 80's and we have known each other for more than 12 years.

Uncle Tom first started taking lessons with me with a clear goal that he wanted to break the 100 stroke barrier for 18 holes.

That was achieved many time since. Thank you Uncle Tom for all your love, friendship and support over the years.

I dare anyone half his age to try and keep up with him.

He still walks the course with his trolley.

Thank you Yee who made up our 3 ball today for the wonderful company and taking the picture of Uncle Tom and I.

Today as I celebrate my 57th birthday I am reminded of how far I have come in life.

How blessed I am to be alive. To have everything I could not even have hoped or wished for growing up in a little village called Cafda, on the Cape Flats, South Africa.

Born to a 15 year old, into a family of more than 13 people living in a tiny 2 bedroom house in an area known for poverty, crime, hardship, alcohol and drug addiction, violence, and other social ills. Yet it had a great sense of community, caring and support.

Weighing in at around 2.4kg and born in a hospital at the foot of Table Mountain.

It was a day that God decided to insert me into history, not to punish, not to shame, not to abandon, but to bless.

Even though our situation looked dire and bleak, especially living under the yoke of Apartheid there was always a fire within me.

The desire to do better and be better, not than anyone else, but to better myself and the lives of my loved ones.

A desire that has never died or diminished, it may have taken a few detours, but it is still at the forefront of my mind.

I can hardly believe how far I have come, the wonderful life I have lived, the incredible experiences I have had.

The absolutely wonderful people I have met. The incredible family I was born into. My Malaysian family.

Thank you for all the love, kindness and support all of you have given me throughout my life.

I am rich in love and blessings. Not forgetting to thank God for blessing me not just with life, but an extraordinary life filled with extraordinary people and passion.

No matter what we have or achieve in life it would be sad if we did not have anyone to share it with.

I regard all of you my family and friends from around the world as my greatest blessings.

Thank you for enriching my life in ways that defines me and makes me be a better version of myself than I could ever have hoped to become, especially given the circumstances into which I was born. God bless you all.
