🚩 Comment “REHAB” if you have clients struggling with recurring aches or movement discomfort—to learn how muscle imbalances and poor muscle recruitment may influence movement, and how to assess and address contributing movement factors within your scope of practice.
📹 Want to increase lower trap activation? Start by looking at the direction of the pull. 👇
The lower trapezius fibres originate from the mid-to-lower thoracic spine (approximately T4–T12) and run diagonally upward and laterally to insert onto the spine of the scapula.
In this drill, using a more diagonal line of resistance—roughly 45°—can help bias lower trapezius contribution while supporting the intended scapular movement.
The goal isn’t simply to “pull harder” or force the shoulder blades down.
Instead, prioritize the line of pull, natural scapular kinematics, and the client’s ability to control the movement without compensatory strategies such as excessive lumbar extension.
Move Beyond Corrective Exercises.
Learn to Think Like a Corrective Movement Coach.
Corrective coaching isn’t about collecting more exercises—it’s about understanding what to change, why you choose a specific intervention, and how to apply it within your scope of practice.
The Corrective Movement Coach – Movement Restorative Specialist course equips fitness professionals with an evidence-informed system to assess movement quality, identify restrictions, and apply targeted corrective strategies.
Using FEA’s R.E.A.C.T. Framework, you’ll learn to:
✔ Conduct practical movement assessments with confidence
✔ Design individualized, evidence-informed corrective programmes
✔ Apply the ALIGN Exercise Library with cues, progressions & regressions
✔ Make clear, biomechanically sound coaching decisions

🚩 Comment “GLUTE” to learn more or register.
Knee angle changes everything in your deadlift. 👇
For a posterior-dominant deadlift:
🔹 More Knee Bend — Position A
Increases knee extension demands and quadriceps involvement, while bringing the hips closer to the bar.
🔹 Higher Hips / Softer Knees — Position B
Increases the horizontal distance between the hip and barbell, increasing hip extension torque demands and potentially placing greater emphasis on the glutes and hamstrings.
💡 But here’s the important part:
The barbell should remain balanced over the mid-foot.
Changing your setup changes your torso angle, joint positions and moment arms — with the effect also influenced by your proportions, limb lengths and training goal.
There’s no single “perfect” deadlift setup for everyone.
Good coaching means understanding why the setup changes — and knowing when to use it. 🏋️♂️

🎓 Congratulations to everyone who completed our Coaching Women Over 40: Strength Training, Menopause & Client-Centred Programming workshop! 👏✨
Yesterday, we had a great group of fitness professionals come together to explore an important question:
“I’m in my 40s. I’m eating less, but my body just doesn’t seem to respond the way it used to. Why?” 👀
And more importantly — as a fitness professional, would you know how to respond?
Coaching women through their 40s and beyond requires more than simply changing exercises. It means understanding the considerations around menopause, strength training, nutrition, recovery and, importantly, how to coach the individual in front of you.
Throughout the workshop, our participants explored:
🔹 Menopause Physiology
Understanding key hormonal changes, sarcopenia and common misconceptions around metabolism.
🔹 Strength Programming
Exploring how to design safe and sustainable programmes while considering factors such as fatigue and joint discomfort.
🔹 Menopause Nutrition
Practical considerations around protein intake, bone health and cravings.
🔹 Coaching Psychology
Communication approaches to build trust, support client retention and empower clients.
🔹 Client-Centred Programming
Moving beyond a one-size-fits-all approach and considering the individual needs of each client.
This workshop wasn’t about finding one “perfect” programme for every woman over 40.
It was about giving fitness professionals more knowledge, practical considerations and confidence to make better-informed coaching decisions for the women they work with.
A huge congratulations to everyone who completed the workshop! 🎉
We hope you take what you’ve learned and apply it directly to your coaching, your programming and, most importantly, the clients you support.

Your body burns calories beyond your workouts 🔥
When we talk about energy balance, it’s easy to think of “calories in vs. calories out” as simply the food we eat versus the calories we burn during exercise.
But your total daily energy expenditure is more complex than that. 🧠
Your body uses energy throughout the day for several different processes, including:
✅ Basal metabolic rate (BMR) — the energy your body needs to keep you alive and functioning at rest
✅ Non-exercise activity (NEAT) — everyday movement such as walking, standing, cleaning, fidgeting and moving around
✅ Exercise activity — structured training, workouts and sports
✅ Thermic effect of food (TEF) — the energy your body uses to digest and process the food you eat
This means that your workout is only one part of the total calories your body burns each day.
And importantly, energy expenditure isn’t the same every day. It can change depending on factors such as activity levels, body size, food intake and daily routines.
In this classroom discussion, we explore evidence-based nutrition principles, including:
· Understanding the different components of energy expenditure
· How BMR, NEAT, exercise and TEF contribute to total daily energy expenditure
· Why daily movement can significantly influence energy expenditure
· Applying these concepts appropriately when educating and coaching clients
As fitness professionals, our role is to educate, support healthy lifestyle habits, and apply evidence-based principles within our scope of practice. Clients with medical conditions or specialized dietary needs should be referred to an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.

🦵 What do we do when clients experience pain or discomfort during movement?
Identifying a movement imbalance is only the first step after a suitability assessment. As fitness professionals, we need to understand what we’re seeing, how to assess it, and what appropriate corrective strategies we can use within our scope of practice.
In this clip, the client experiences pain and discomfort during lower-body movements. Through assessment, we identify hip imbalances that may be contributing to his movement limitations. We then apply targeted activation drills to help improve movement quality and reassess his response. 🔍
The FEA Corrective Movement Coach course equips fitness professionals with a practical, rehab-informed system to assess movement quality, identify compensations, and implement safe, effective corrective exercise strategies.
Using FEA’s R.E.A.C.T. Framework, you’ll learn to:
✔️ Bridge the gap between rehabilitation and functional training
✔️ Recognise when to refer clients to a healthcare professional—and when it’s appropriate to continue training
✔️ Conduct practical movement assessments with confidence
✔️ Follow a structured assessment process that removes guesswork
✔️ Apply targeted corrective exercise progressions to improve movement quality, build client trust, and increase long-term retention
Co-developed with insights from Ulrik Larsen (Australian Sports Physiotherapist & Founder of Rehab Trainer), this programme combines evidence-informed theory, hands-on practical sessions, and real-world case studies to elevate your coaching.

⚠️ Rule #1 of emergency response: Never create a second victim.
When an emergency happens in the water, adrenaline makes us want to dive right in. But unless you are formally trained in water rescue, an untrained attempt or performing CPR on an unstable surface (like a dragon boat) puts everyone at risk.
Key reminders for coaches and fitness leaders:
✅ Check for Danger: Assess scene safety before taking action.
✅ Reach or Throw, Don’t Go: Use flotation aids or reach tools if you aren’t a certified lifeguard.
✅ Firm, Stable Ground: Move the casualty to a safe, firm surface before initiating CPR.
👉 Getting certified isn’t just about ticking a box—it’s about knowing what to do under pressure.
