How to perform badminton smash:
The badminton smash is often the winning shot in badminton.
However, the smash is a risky shot.

It’s risky because after you smash, you’ll need to maintain good
balance. You need to be quick enough to return to your footwork base
(right in the middle of the court).

If you don’t do this, you’ll find yourself in trouble if your opponent manages to retrieve your smash.

Hit the smash ONLY at the right opportunity. An opportunity arises when:

get a high clear/lob/lift from your opponent.
manage to get your opponent out of position
are ready to smash. In other words, you’re able to get behind the shuttle in time and have good balance.
smash will catch your opponent off-guard.

Malaysia new Badminton star. Lee Zii Jia.

In the Sunday match, Lee Zii Jia won the title after beating defending champion Viktor Axelsen of Denmark 30-29, 20-22, 21-9 in an epic final in Birmingham.

Lee Zii Jia also beat Japan’s two-time world champion Kento Momota at the quarter-finals in a pulsating, marathon encounter.

It was Lee Zii Jia’s first title in three years, his last one being the 2018 Chinese Taipei Open. He is now ranked eighth in the world.
