The Sports Law Association of Malaysia (SLAM) wishes everyone a Happy Labour Day 2026. Today, we recognise and appreciate the invaluable contributions of workers who uphold excellence and integrity in every sector. Your efforts truly make a difference.

On 13 April 2026, the Sports Law Association of Malaysia - SLAM conducted a meaningful session on Safeguarding, Safe Sport, and Mediation at the Asian International Arbitration Centre.

We were honoured to engage with participants from the Malaysian Deaf Sports Association and Special Olympics Malaysia, coming together with one goal—to build safe, inclusive, and respectful sporting environments for all athletes.

The session covered:
✔️ How to improve violation reporting
✔️ Practical steps for event safety
✔️ Understanding safeguarding challenges in Deaf and Special Olympics sport
✔️ Using mediation as a constructive way to resolve conflicts

Thank you to all participants for your openness, engagement, and commitment to making sport safer for everyone.

Because at the end of the day—
no medal is more important than the well-being of an athlete.

Once every two (2) years, professional bodies across Sabah come together—each taking turns to host a sport, promoting fellowship and camaraderie beyond the workplace.

Throughout the year, the IPBG features a vibrant mix of sports:
⚽️ Futsal | ⛳️ Golf | 🏸 Badminton | 🎳 Bowling | 🏓 Table Tennis | 🎯 Darts | 🎱 Pool | ⚽️ Football | 👟 And a final run to wrap up the year!

Last Saturday, Vanessa Marimuttu , one of our members at the Sports Law Association of Malaysia - SLAM was proud to take part, representing the Sabah Law Society in the table tennis event. She played alongside and against professionals from across the spectrum—doctors, architects, engineers, accountants, pharmacists, and surveyors.

It was a fantastic day of:
🤝 Reconnecting with old friends;
🔗 Building new professional ties; and
🎉 Enjoying sport for the love of it.

Events like IPBG show how sport continues to bridge gaps between professions, remind us of the value of wellbeing, and celebrate the spirit of teamwork.
