REEL 4 — THE END OF 2023 ⛳

Just 16 months after Yusuf began training with me, his game had already taken another significant step forward.

By the end of 2023, he was regularly scoring around 85—clear evidence that the technical work, structured practice and competitive experience were beginning to transfer onto the golf course.

This stage was about much more than developing an attractive golf swing. Yusuf was learning how to manage his game, recover from mistakes and turn improving technique into lower scores.

There was still a long journey ahead, but the foundations of a future PGA Professional were now beginning to take shape.

REEL 3 | Building the Foundations – Up to July 2023 ⛳

By July 2023, Yusuf’s development was gathering real momentum. His technique was becoming stronger, his ball striking more powerful and his golf course skills more assured.

This progress was built through consistent practice, structured coaching and the continued support of the player–parent–coach relationship—an important part of long-term player development identified within my master’s degree research.

There was still a long journey ahead, but the foundations required to pursue a future career in professional golf were beginning to take shape.

From an idea to reality…
Can someone become the level of a PGA Trainee Professional in just four years? This is what happened.
In August 2022, Yusuf came to my academy for a face-to-face meeting and told me that his dream was to become a golf professional.
Who was I to take that dream away from him?
Instead, I chose to support it. With tremendous backing from his family, we created a structured development plan guided by findings from my Master’s Degree research into how elite golfers acquire expertise.
During the Improvement Phase, rivalry, competition and the desire to win are powerful influences. I therefore created that environment through match play, stroke play, two-ball Texas scrambles and regular challenges against me as his coach.
Four years later, that dream has become a reality: Yusuf is now a Year 2 PGA Trainee Professional.
