Singapore’s HDH ASEAN Selection — Beyond the Range

Yesterday, archers gathered at Salt & Light Archery @ West Coast for Singapore’s HDH ASEAN Selection.

What makes this venue especially interesting is not just the archery — it is where the archery happens.

Under a flyover, in one of the world’s most densely developed urban environments, an HDH selection can still take place.

It is a great example of how urban space can be thoughtfully utilised for sport, when the right governance, safety standards, compliance and cooperation with local authorities come together.

Singapore offers an interesting model for the rest of ASEAN: perhaps archery does not always need to compete for large, conventional sports grounds. With proper planning and the support of the relevant authorities, even unconventional urban spaces can be transformed into places where our sport can grow.

Sometimes, the challenge is not finding more space — but finding better ways to use the space we already have.

HDHIAA 3D HUNTING TARGET DESIGN & BUILD COMPETITION 2026

Design It. Build It. Put It on the Course.

We’re taking our target design challenge into the 3rd dimension.

Design AND physically build ONE 3D hunting target following HDHIAA hunting criteria.

CHOOSE ONE CATEGORY

BIG GAME
Score area: Above 250mm | Distance: 25–35m

MEDIUM GAME
Score area: 201–250mm | Distance: 20–30m

SMALL GAME
Score area: 151–200mm | Distance: 15–25m

TINY GAME
Score area: 0–150mm | Distance: 5–15m

Only ONE category is required per participant.

Be creative. Animals, birds, local species, unique shapes, cultural or mythical creatures — as long as it works as a practical 3D hunting target.

IMPORTANT: THIS IS A BUILD COMPETITION

Your target must be physically constructed and suitable for archery use.

As part of your submission, you must also provide a video test shoot demonstrating the target being shot with a bow of at least 35 lbs draw weight**.

The video should clearly demonstrate the target's structural integrity and arrow-stopping performance.

HACC 2026 OPPORTUNITY

Selected targets may be used at the HDH ASEAN Historical Archery Continental Championship 2026 (HACC 2026), subject to safety and organiser approval.

FULL CREDIT TO THE CREATOR

If your target is selected, your name/team/country will receive full credit in official materials and wherever practical at HACC 2026.

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

The Historical Archery Forum 2026 invites researchers, historians, archaeologists, museum professionals, educators, traditional bowyers, students, and historical archery practitioners to share their research and ideas.

Held in conjunction with the HDH ASEAN Historical Archery Continental Championship 2026 (HACC 2026), the forum aims to bring together scholarship and living heritage through engaging presentations, meaningful discussions, and international collaboration.

Accepted abstracts will be presented at the Historical Archery Forum 2026 and published in the official Book of Abstracts.

Exploring History Beyond the Archery Range

Today, the HDH Archery Malaysia team paid a visit to the National Textile Museum in Kuala Lumpur as part of our continued exploration for the Pahlawan Games during the HDH ASEAN Historical Archery Continental Championship 2026.

The museum is being considered as one of the potential checkpoints, where participants may not only test their skills but also immerse themselves in Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage.

Joining us was our World Champion, Aira Imani, together with her siblings. The visit provided a wonderful opportunity to learn about historical clothing, traditional craftsmanship, and the evolution of attire throughout Malaysia’s history. Understanding historical costumes and cultures is an important aspect of historical archery, helping archers appreciate the era and traditions that inspired the sport.

Historical archery is more than hitting a target—it is about preserving history, culture, and heritage.

We look forward to creating an unforgettable championship experience that combines sport, education, and cultural discovery.

A New Chapter Begins for HACC 2026

Today marks an important milestone in the journey towards the HDH ASEAN Historical Archery Continental Championship 2026 (HACC 2026).

We were honoured to present our Strategic Collaboration Proposal to Jabatan Muzium Malaysia (JMM) in a meeting chaired by YBrs. Encik Mohd Razaimi bin Hamat, Timbalan Ketua Pengarah (Permuziuman).

We are pleased to share that Jabatan Muzium Malaysia has agreed in principle to work together with us, integrating HACC 2026 with existing museum initiatives and programmes while exploring long-term collaboration in heritage, education, exhibitions and cultural engagement.

This partnership reflects a shared vision of preserving and promoting historical archery as an important element of living heritage, while positioning Malaysia as a regional hub for heritage-based sporting and cultural tourism.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the management and officers of Jabatan Muzium Malaysia for their warm reception, valuable insights and confidence in this initiative.

This is only the beginning. More exciting announcements will follow as we work together towards welcoming the historical archery community from across ASEAN and the world to Malaysia in November 2026.

Together, we are building a legacy beyond the championship.
