Looking to gain valuable overseas tournament experience this summer? An exciting international competitive stage is set for this August in the historic city of Kuqa, Xinjiang, China! This event is open to all players looking to experience high-level competition, gain international rating points, and contend for a substantial prize fund of up to RM 232,000. 🏆

💰 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐨𝐥: 𝐑𝐌𝐁 𝟑𝟖𝟖,𝟎𝟎𝟎 (~𝐑𝐌 𝟐𝟑𝟐,𝟎𝟎𝟎!)
👉 Group A (FIDE > 2000): 1st Place takes home RMB 100,000 (~RM 61,000)!
Cash prizes are awarded down to 16th place, alongside category prizes for top Women players, U20 Youth, and specific rating groups.

👉 Group B (FIDE < 1999): 1st Place takes home RMB 30,000 (~RM 18,300)!
Cash prizes are awarded down to 10th place, with additional category awards for Women, Seniors (Over 50), and Unrated players.

⚔️ 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭 & 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬
The competition follows a 9-round Swiss pairing system:
🔹 Group A (FIDE Rating > 2000): 90 minutes base time + 30s increment per move.
🔹 Group B (FIDE Rating < 1999): 60 minutes base time + 30s increment per move.

💵 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐅𝐞𝐞𝐬 & 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐤𝐬
🔹 Standard Entry Fee: USD 55 or RMB 400 per participant.
🔹 Grandmaster Privileges: Entry fee exemptions apply for GMs (> 2500) and WGMs (> 2300). High-rated GMs and WGMs are also eligible for travel subsidies and complimentary hospitality.

Dateline Extended to Participate at the Asian Youth Chess Championship, Shenzhen – Malaysian Chess Federation 26/06/2026

The registration deadline to play at the upcoming Asian Youth Chess Championship 2026 in Shenzhen, China, has been extended until 1st July 2026.

Players who are keen to play can still register by going to our MCF website to download the Registration form. While all the official slots have been filled, the additional player allocations are available for all age group events.

MCF OFFICE GP CIRCUITS QUARTERLY SERIES – Q3 (Gold Event) – Malaysian Chess Federation 23/06/2026

It will be a very busy month of July for MCF, with back-to-back events starting with the Scholastic event (for Secondary Schools) on the 4th and 5th of July, followed by the GP Quarterly event at MCF Office, and the second part of the Scholastic event (for Primary Schools) to take place on the 18th and 19th of July 2026

The MCF GP Event continues with the July series on the 25th and 26th of July, with the GM IM and Malaysian Masters to close off our July and early August activities.

MCF OFFICE GP CIRCUITS QUARTERLY SERIES – Q3 (Gold Event) – Malaysian Chess Federation The Quarterly Series (Gold Event) for the GP Circuits 2026 is set to be held on the 11th and 12th of July 2026 at the MCF office in Taman Equine, Seri Kembangan. For June 2026, six (6) FIDE Arbiter and one (1) International Arbiter applications have been submitted to FIDE to be presented at the 2nd FIDE Council meeting to be held sometime in July.

MCF wishes everyone ALL THE BEST as we continue to develop more Arbiters to earn and qualify as internationally recognized Arbiters by FIDE.

Current LeaderBoard - Malaysian Chess Federation (MCF) 08/06/2026

The current GP Leaderboard has been updated with a few changes at the top. Currently leading the pack is IM Chan Kim Yew after his team's excellent performance at the recent 3rd National Open Team Chess Championship 2026. Reigning Women Champion Ainul Mardhiah is in 2nd place albeit not having able to score any points at the same event

The next GP event will be on the 27th and 28th of June 2026, with 300 GP points to be earned. For this year's series, 64 players with the highest points collected will be selected to play in the Final Championship Knock Out event, with the eventual winner to earn RM10k - the highest ever offered to a single Malaysian player.

MCF kicked off its first-ever chess class for Beginners and Intermediate Beginners at its office last Saturday, 6th June 2026. The class runs for 1:30hours for 3 weeks each month from June to September 2026.

The class is aimed at providing guidance to new and interested players to start learning about chess as a game, and how to enhance their understanding to improve their basic skills and techniques.

MCF is opening its doors for players who are interested to be part of the National Squad to the upcoming 46th FIDE World Chess Olympiad to be held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan from the 15th to the 28th of September 2026.

The application is to fill the 5th spot for the Men/Open Team with 4 team members already confirming their seats for the team.

The members for the Women's Team have already been completed headed by our recently crowned National Champion WFM Ainul Mardhiah, and Malaysia's #1 and #2 player - WFM Tan Li Ting and WFM Agnes Chong Kai Ni, with WCM Chua Jia Tien and Ashwiniy Kumaran

♟️ What an amazing celebration of chess, friendship, and sportsmanship!

After four days of exciting battles, strategic brilliance, and memorable moments over the board, the 3rd National Open Chess Championship – PMX Cup 2026 has officially concluded.

🏆 Chess Hub Titans emerged as Overall Champions with a perfect 7 wins and 22 points, taking home RM6,000. CLLC finished 2nd with 18 points (RM3,000), while MIED Chess Squad B secured 3rd with 16 points (RM2,000). Chess Hub Queens, Chess Hub Masters, Penang Looi Club, Falcon Nine, and EMT Pintasan completed the Top 8, each receiving RM1,000.

🏅 In the Best State Team category, Penang TARUMT Team claimed the title (RM2,500), ahead of KL Gengster (RM1,500) and KL Knights (RM1,000).

🎖️ Special category winners:
• Best U12: Chess Hub Trailblazers; Cerebrill Marcuschess U12 (Runner-up)
• Best U18: Langat Boyz (Champion); Penang 64 (Runner-up)
