After 69 years of Independence, it is painful to see that we are still talking about race and religion as if these differences should divide us.

Malaysia has never belonged to just one race, one religion or one community. Malaysia belongs to all Malaysians.

Our greatest strength is our diversity. When we stand together with mutual respect, equality and understanding, unity can bring greater prosperity, peace and opportunities for everyone.

Sadly, even today, there are certain groups who speak about “unity” but only mean the unity of one race, rather than the unity of all Malaysians.

Honestly, this is something we should feel ashamed of after 69 years of Merdeka.

Let us build a Malaysia where every Malaysian regardless of race or religion feels respected, valued and has an equal place in our nation.

Merdeka is not just freedom from colonial rule.
Merdeka must also mean freedom from racism, hatred and division.

Let our unity be our greatest strength.

Majlis Bandaraya Seberang Perai issued a notice on a Hindu Temple in Batu Kawan, which was allocated for the temple and owned by Penang Hindu Endowments Board. Surprisingly the notice was posted on 22 August 2026 (Saturday). Didn’t know Council is so efficient these days, even issuing notice on Saturday.

Was this notice issued under the request of the land owner (Penang Hindu Endowments Board) or a response against the PHEB Chairman’s comment on temple issue in Perlis?!

RSN Rayer, says PN is bad for non-Muslims, especially Hindus interest. This is happening in PENANG! Who’s in charge of PHEB? Who’s in charge of Penang?! The old days of harassment against Hindu temples is back in Penang?!
