🎃 RB Haunted House: Dare to Enter? 🎃

The first haunted house experience of its kind in the Riviera Maya. Prepare yourself (and maybe prepare for some nightmares).

⚠️ Important:
Genuinely scary. Not for the faint-hearted.
Minimum age 13 (must be accompanied by a parent).
Dress code: closed shoes, jungle-ready clothes. Things may get muddy—leave the white sneakers at home.
Groups of up to 12 people.
Side effects may include: nightmares, laughter, and a warm feeling from supporting our rescue animals.

🎨 Raffle for Rancho Baaxal — Win a Donated Original Painting

For almost 19 years, Rancho Baaxal has been a horseback riding ranch and horse rescue in the jungle near Playa del Carmen, Mexico, home to 12 rescued horses and 4 dogs. Every horse that comes to us has a home for life, rideable or not — our retired horses with medical needs are just as much a part of the family as any horse on the trails. We don't write a horse off just because it's older or can no longer be ridden; a horse that still has years ahead of it can find a second purpose with us, whether that's on the trails or in therapy work.

Our mission goes beyond the ranch itself: we want to show people that horses are among the best therapists and companions a person can have, and to help raise the standard of how horses are understood, treated, and cared for in our community.

This low season has been brutal, and the bills don't stop even when bookings do. To help us through it, we're holding a raffle.

First prize: An original 30" x 19" (76.2 x 48.3 cm) watercolor painting of our horse Brandy, donated by Russian artist Sasha Fofanova. Shipping is covered for winners in the US, Canada, and Mexico; for other countries, shipping can be arranged.

Second prize: A Classic Ride for two at Rancho Baaxal.

Plus five more winners will each receive a Classic Ride for one.

All ride prizes are valid for three years from the raffle date.

Tickets: $20 USD. Limited to 200. Once they're gone, they're gone. All proceeds go to the horses and dogs of Rancho Baaxal. Raffle numbers are assigned in the order tickets are purchased.

Chiquilin is our only stallion, and he's bigger and stronger than the rest of our horses. He spent most of his time locked up before he came to us, so today he roams freely around the property, with a few horse friends to keep him company along the way.
Chiquilin knows all of our horses, but he isn't usually loose in the corral with this group. So when we let him in with them, we were curious to see how it would go. This one surprised us: Chiquilin and Indio, who are normally not the best of friends, playing together.
To someone new to horses, this can look rough. Nipping at necks, mouths on faces, heads over shoulders. But this is how horses play, and it's a good example of a healthy interaction. Both stay relaxed and keep coming back for more, they take turns, and nobody is chasing, kicking, or trying to get away.
Chiquilin has a lot of patience, but he's still a stallion, and with his size and strength, his play can be a bit much for the smaller boys. So we always keep an eye on these meetings. Today he got it just right.

Right next to the ranch, our horses were resting easy in the shade when a troop of spider monkeys came swinging through the branches right above them. Two different worlds, sharing the same patch of jungle, completely undisturbed by each other.
We feel so privileged to live somewhere we get to witness moments like this, just by stepping outside. Never taking it for granted. 🐴🐒

Nothing goes to waste at Rancho Baaxal 🐴✂️

We have just given some of our horses a tail trim, to keep them looking sharp. But that hair isn't going anywhere. It gets carefully saved and turned into handmade jewelry at our RB Gift Shop, so guests can take home a real keepsake and memory from their visit.
