Oceanic mantas grow slowly, mature late, and usually give birth to just one pup every two to three years—making every individual vital to the future of the species.

Around La Paz, they have been spotted at La Reina, El Bajo, and Las Ánimas. Encounters are never guaranteed, but that’s exactly what makes seeing one so extraordinary.

Some encounters don’t need words.

Pilot whales travel through the Sea of Cortez in close family groups, reminding us that the ocean’s greatest moments are often its quietest.

Mangroves are far more than trees growing along the coast—they protect our shorelines, capture carbon, filter the water, and provide a safe nursery for countless marine species.

And yes... La Paz is home to these incredible ecosystems. From Balandra to El Mogote and the Bay of La Paz, mangroves quietly sustain the rich biodiversity that makes the Sea of Cortez so extraordinary.

Protecting mangroves means protecting everything that depends on them—including us.

Orcas are among the ocean’s most intelligent animals, living in close family groups and passing knowledge from one generation to the next.

Seeing them in the Sea of Cortez isn’t just unforgettable—it’s a privilege.

The Sea of Cortez is home to some of the largest animals on Earth.

From the mighty Blue Whale to the playful Humpback, every winter these gentle giants remind us why this sea is one of the most extraordinary places on the planet.

Each species has its own story, migration, and role in this incredible ecosystem—and every encounter is a privilege.

Think we forgot the Whale Shark? 😉
We didn't.

Despite its name, the Whale Shark isn't a whale at all—it's the largest fish in the world. We'll give this gentle giant the spotlight it deserves in a separate guide.
Because the more we learn about the ocean, the more reasons we have to protect it.

Some encounters make you stop breathing for a second.

A giant manta ray doesn’t rush. It doesn’t need to. With a wingspan that can reach up to 7 meters (23 feet), it glides through the Sea of Cortez with a kind of elegance that seems almost impossible.

This isn’t just another dive.
It’s a front-row seat to one of the ocean’s most breathtaking giants.
The Sea of Cortez never stops amazing us.

At first glance they may look alike… but they couldn't be more different.

Rays spend most of their lives gliding across the seafloor, while mobulas are built for the open ocean, where they travel in schools and perform spectacular leaps above the surface.

Knowing the difference helps us appreciate the incredible diversity of the Sea of Cortez—and reminds us that every species plays a unique role in keeping this ecosystem healthy.

The more we understand, the more we protect.
Which one have you seen in the Sea of Cortez?

Some shows don’t need a stage.

Just a front-row seat in the Sea of Cortez.
Every dive is a chance to witness moments that can’t be scripted—only experienced.
