The Malawi Women's National Football Team, the Scorchers, have safely arrived in Morocco ahead of the 2026 TotalEnergies Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), set to kick off later this month.
The Scorchers travelled to Morocco two weeks before their opening Group C encounter to allow ample time for final preparations. As part of their build-up to the tournament, Malawi will play two international friendly matches against hosts Morocco and Ghana.
Malawi will begin its WAFCON campaign against African giants Nigeria on July 28, before taking on Egypt on August 1. The Scorchers will conclude their Group C fixtures with a highly anticipated clash against Zambia on August 5.

The Malawi Queens have left the country through Bakili Muluzi International Airport in Blantyre for England, where they will embark on the final phase of their preparations ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, taking place from 23 July to 2 August.
During their training camp in England, the Queens are scheduled to play a series of high-profile international friendly matches aimed at sharpening their competitive edge before the Games. The fixtures include encounters against the England men's team and world netball powerhouse New Zealand before the squad proceeds to Glasgow.
Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) President Vitumbiko Gubuduza expressed confidence that the tour will provide the team with valuable exposure and quality match practice as they fine-tune their preparations for the Commonwealth Games.
