FIFA President Gianni Infantino has congratulated Malawi’s Scorchers for qualifying for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, describing the achievement as a landmark moment for the country’s women’s football.

In a message shared by FIFA, Infantino said the team’s dedication, passion and hard work had opened the door to the world stage. He also commended the players, technical team, staff and everyone who believes in the power of women’s football.

Malawi’s qualification marks the Scorchers’ first-ever appearance at the FIFA Women’s World Cup, creating a historic milestone for the national team and inspiring young girls across the country to take up the sport.
