The Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC), in collaboration with the National Institute of Education (NIE), conducted MOC’s first-ever Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP) – Teacher Training Workshop today at Shaheed Ali School, with the participation of teachers from schools across Malé.

The programme was officially opened by Chief Guest Dr. Mahamood Shougee, Chancellor of the Maldives National University, who described OVEP as a bridge connecting the objectives of NIE and MOC. In his address, he highlighted how the Olympic values of Excellence, Respect and Friendship, together with the five OVEP educational themes, complement the values and principles of education.

The workshop was facilitated by MOC Director General Mohamed Jaushan Shareef and Mohamed Sharif. Through interactive sessions and practical activities, teachers explored the fundamentals of OVEP and ways of incorporating Olympic values into teaching and learning.

We are here in Kulhudhuffushi with ARC Maldives to mark Safe Sport Day with a series of child safeguarding sessions for club and academy management, EXCO members, coaches, parents, and child athletes.

The sessions were very well received, bringing together over 135 participants across three sessions to strengthen understanding of child safeguarding and the shared responsibility we all have in creating safer, more supportive sporting environments for children.

Thank you to UNICEF Maldives and Kulhudhuffushi City Council for supporting these sessions and our shared efforts towards making sport safer for children across the Maldives.
