Since establishing Freedive Maldives in 2015, Fahd has played a pioneering role in introducing internationally recognised freediving education to the Maldives, training more than 1,000 students from around the world while helping position the destination as a hub for marine adventure and experiential tourism. Beyond the sport itself, his work has championed ocean conservation, sustainable tourism and new opportunities for young Maldivians to build meaningful careers connected to the sea.

For this edition the islandchief we sit down with Fahd Faiz and he reflects on his journey from passionate ocean enthusiast to industry pioneer, the evolution of freediving in the Maldives, and his vision for a future where tourism, conservation, and personal transformation go hand in hand.
