🍾 Champagne Moment & DOD 🫠

This week’s Champagne Moment goes to none other than The Pres, Tommy!

A fine knock packed with glorious cover drives that had spectators purring and teammates wondering if we’d travelled back in time. After only a few weeks ago making his Notables debut while spending most of the afternoon sitting in a chair, Tommy has now rattled off back-to-back fifties!

Ageing like a fine champagne. Well played, Pres! 🍾🏏

🍆 Dick of the Day 🍆

This week’s award goes to one of our newest recruits, De Wet.

He arrived at nets with plenty of hype. We’ve seen him launching absolute bombs, and some have even claimed he hits the ball further than Chris Gayle and Vaibhav Suryavanshi combined.

So what happened on debut?

A golden opportunity… and a duck. 🦆

Not quite living up to the pre-season marketing campaign.

Welcome to the club, De Wet, and congratulations on your first of what we suspect may be many Dick of the Day awards! 😂🏏

The Notables were back in action this weekend against the Marlins, and after being sent in to bat, posted a very respectable 169/9 from their 20 overs.

Batting honours go to skipper Tom, who rolled back the years with a classy 58* from just 32 balls, while Dylan Norris chipped in with a handy 20 from 17 to help set what looked like a competitive total.

With the ball, Ben Van Rooyen was the pick of the attack, finishing with excellent figures of 2-19 from his 4 overs and giving the Marlins plenty to think about.

Unfortunately for the Notables, the game slipped away on the second-last ball in a nail-biting finish.

Now for the funny part…

Marlins informed us they had a player arriving late and would only be acting as 12th man. Fair enough, we thought. What they forgot to mention was that their “12th man” appeared to be a South African U19 Colts player! He strolled to the crease and promptly launched a rapid-fire 50 from 20 balls, turning the game on its head.

A lovely little trick up the sleeve there, lads! 😂

All jokes aside, well played to the Marlins and thanks for a great game. We’ll remember the secret weapon next time… and revenge will be sweet. 🏏🍻

To execute one in a match is quality bowling…

To do it TWICE in a high-scoring game is something else entirely. 👏🔥

This week’s Champagne Moment goes to Keegs, who produced two wicket maidens when runs were flying everywhere. That’s proper bowling, building pressure, taking wickets, and completely changing the game.

A fantastic spell and a thoroughly deserved Champagne Moment.

Hat-tricks are something this club certainly isn’t shy of…

But this week we’ve witnessed a very different kind of hat-trick.

STEVE… HAT-TRICK OF DICKS OF THE DAY!!! 🎩😂

Has that ever happened in club history?

This week’s nomination came courtesy of a suicidal call that very nearly ran out his own son, Ed. Father of the Year awards have officially been postponed.

To be fair, Steve eventually took one for the team and sacrificed himself instead, all while having a full-blown argument with Ed halfway down the pitch.

In the end, it turned out to be the right decision…

An angry Ed responded by absolutely creaming the very next ball for four.

Meanwhile Steve?

Duck… and straight back through the small gate. 🚪😂
