Scubatech Diving Centre Malta

Most of our regular customers know Matthew Abela working in our dive centre during the summer. Matthew started diving with us more than 7 years ago doing his Open Water Diver course as a 16 year old. He liked it, kept diving and training and by 2023 Matthew was a Divemaster. This summer he is working with SDI Course Director Mark Shilling taking his next step in diving to become an instructor!

Matthew is also an active leader in the Baden Powell Scouts Malta and in 2024 he became the first member in Malta to receive the "Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award". We are so proud to have Matthew with us and his many achievements in diving and in life. All the best with your instructor training Matthew!

We have been quiet on social media - because we were so busy diving all around Malta, Comino and Gozo! Some impressions here to share with you. The grouper in the third photo is 80-90 cm, a big boy, tugging a remora around with him as well. Happy Summer everyone - and it's time to plan your Autumn diving trip to Malta! Live and let's dive!

There is plenty of fish in the waters around Malta! Here are some of the more elusive species we encounter from time-to-time on our dives: a Broadnose Pipefish, an African Hind which is an invasive species, a Mediterranean Rough Skate and finally a Haifa Grouper

Another busy week at Scubatech and we had so much fun! Hannah did an awesome job at her SDI Advanced Adventure Diver course while friends Megan, Kayleigh and Jennifer did a series of dives with Jack. For the Night dive on Wednesday Hannah was joined by Nick who finished his Advanced Open Water course as well. Live and lets dive!

June started with a bang at Scubatech! Hampus did his SDI Open Water Scuba Diver course and then we had Michiel, Susan, Frank and Sikke from the Netherlands doing 4 days of serious wreck diving on the Um el Faroud, P29, Rozi, Karwela and Cominoland wrecks as well as a day on the pinnacle at Raz il Hobz. It was an awesome week here! Live and let's dive!

We love going to Gozo for a day of diving! The Inland Sea dive site is a frequent target. From the entry, there is an awesome tunnel out to open sea and an amazingly colorful wall. One of the most popular dives for many of our divers.

On Saturday 27 June we are boat diving at Comino. We are planning to dive the P31 wreck and the Santa Maria caves. Both dives are suitable for Open Water Divers and above. The boat charge for the day is €30 in addition to your normal guided dive rate. Don't wait too long and book your place now, full is full!

A nice and busy week - great conditions and great dives! Eoghan did 6 dives on wrecks and in caves, Gloria did her Advanced Open Water course, Steph had her first underwater experience and did a really nice SDI Scuba Discovery, Amy came with father Andy to complete her Open Water Diver course and finally Daniel and Ilana were here for 10 dives in the crystal clear waters of Malta.
