MYSC Racing Team is on the road again! ⛵🇲🇹

This time, our sailors are heading to Thessaloniki, Greece to compete at the ILCA 6 Youth European Championships, forming part of a strong Maltese team contingent.

What an incredible achievement for the Malta Optimist Worlds Team at the Optimist World Championship in Tangier, Morocco! 🇲🇹⛵

We are immensely proud of our club sailor, Matthias Spiteri, who delivered an outstanding performance throughout the regatta. Entering the Final Series in an impressive 20th place among the world’s best Optimist sailors was a remarkable accomplishment. Although tough competition and some unfortunate penalties saw him finish in 57th place overall, Matthias showed exceptional talent, determination and resilience on the international stage. We have no doubt this experience will only make him stronger.

A huge well done also goes to Coach Ivan Vasilev for his dedication and guidance, and to our Junior Coach Nico Drescher, who took on the role of Team Leader and helped steer the Maltese team throughout the championship.

Finally, congratulations to the entire Malta team on an outstanding collective performance, finishing as the 7th ranked country out of 53 participating nations—a truly remarkable achievement that reflects the hard work, commitment and growing strength of Maltese sailing.

📣 Call for Optimist / ILCA Performance Coach ⛵

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Optimist / ILCA Performance Coach to join our sailing program and help develop the next generation of competitive sailors.

Key Responsibilities:
🔹 Plan and deliver high-performance coaching sessions for Optimist and ILCA sailors
🔹 Support athletes at local and international regattas
🔹 Develop training programs focused on technical, tactical, physical, and mental performance
🔹 Work closely with sailors, parents, and club officials to achieve performance goals
🔹 Foster a positive, professional, and athlete-centered environment

Requirements:
✅ Proven coaching experience in Optimist and/or ILCA classes
✅ Strong knowledge of racing techniques and athlete development pathways
✅ Ability to travel for competitions and training camps
✅ Excellent communication and organizational skills
✅ Relevant coaching qualifications and certifications

The MYSC Racing Team would like to wish the very best of luck to our sailors Ben Vassallo and Mia Busuttil, who together form part of the Maltese National Team competing at the ILCA Senior European Championships in Split, Croatia. 🇲🇹⛵

Joining them on the national squad are Katrina Micallef and Matthew Flores from RMYC, as the Maltese contingent takes on Europe’s top sailors in this prestigious event.

Their participation follows several days of intensive training in Croatia, as well as competing in the Croatian National Championships held last weekend — valuable preparation ahead of the Europeans.

We are proud to see our sailors representing both MYSC and Malta on the international stage and wish the entire Maltese team fair winds and every success throughout the championship! 💪⛵🇲🇹
